Glenn Beck had his crazy train running wide open a week ago when he again urged Christians to abandon their churches and follow him. Beck usually dresses up for his audience in costumes ranging from Bavarian Border Guard uniforms to Lederhosen. I expected him to deliver his “leave Christianity” message dressed in black. It played well with Beck listeners when he told them that Jesus did not believe in touchy-feely ideas of social justice. Beck’s message is that as Christians, we should abandon our commitment to shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, and heal the sick. I’m certain Beck knows his way around Mein Kampf much better than he does the New Testament so it is no surprise that he is urging his followers to abandon the kind of Christianity that embraces social justice. Beck is seeing great results in motivating his followers.

4. I don't watch Beck...
so - is he REALLY doing this (telling Chritains to turn away and follow him)?? I think that most Christains would immediately see thru this asswipe at that point, but then again....who the heck knows?

5. The first time I saw that video of the man with Parkinson's
I was so afraid I was going to see someone kick him, which would then lead to a bunch of the SOBs kicking and beating him.

I'm sorry to say it, but Teabaggers are a most disgusting form of slime life.

6. Wow....Same here..

I thought, should I watch this? I don't want to see someone being beaten up. Well, they didn't thankfully. However, they sure showed people how messed up they are. I am sure the guy who threw money at that man, sure feels very proud of himself. They have no remorse.

Its like someone on DU said.. " I got mine.. so F*</< you!"

Its despicable.

7. We've heard better from Pap
Glenn Beck is nuts, but he's no Jim Jones. He could not convince his followers to commit suicide. A scattered few and far between yes, but not all. A television screen lacks the kind of intimacy Jones had with his followers for Beck to persuade his mob to that kind of mass self-destruction.

Pap gives Beck way too much credit for his ability to manipulate his mob. They need no convincing. They were racists who believed in the fable of the rugged American individual long before any of them ever heard of Glenn Beck. Any media personality spewing right wing steer manure could have gotten the mob out to protest health care reform. Rush Limbaugh would have done just as well, but he chooses to encourage people to raw hatred rather than act on it.

The assertion that Beck knows his way around Mein Kampf better than the New Testament is baseless and uncalled for. A critique of the anti-social Christianity that Beck preaches and which is identical to the teachings of the C Street Family, is in order. Frankly, I would rather hear that from a Christian theologian. This is an internal matter for followers of the Christian faith, which I rejected long ago when I failed to understand how a just and merciful God could condemn any one to Hell for going to the "wrong" church. Accordingly, I have no interest in what is Christian orthodoxy and what is heresy.

What I do know is that the American privatized health care system failed to deliver the goods to too many people. It needed reformed and what we got in the legislation signed by the President yesterday is a good start. That has nothing to do with how I think the cosmos is ordered.

8. Mein Kampf!
Edited on Wed Mar-24-10 03:55 PM by AlbertCat
You loose many a listener of all persuasions when you bring Hitler into the commentary.... even if accurate.

Beck doesn't know "Mein Kampf".... he knows his way around "Atlas Shrugged". It's time to start condemning Rand and her stupid useless ideas.

10. Ayn Rand at least knew what Jesus taught
She was an atheist and rejection of Christian teachings about charity (altruism) is a pillar of her objectivism.

12. Don't forget!
Glen Beck = Jim Jones.

Shout it out & always draw the parallel. Ask the right wing nut jobs if they are drinking Glen Beck's & Jim Jones' Koolaide.
