1. So typical
Watching this Rethug blatantly lie to one of the smartest men on the planet is entertaining but sad.

They have nothing!

2. I was so hoping that this segment would be posted.
Guys, don't get mad. Read it like a map.

Listen to the talking points, the framing, the justifications.

Thank you, Thom!

3. Is that Matthew Vadum?
He's the guy who's probably had the most to do with smearing ACORN and erecting all those weird Saul Alinsky-based conspiracy theories around them. I'll have to bookmark this to watch tomorrow when I'm not on my way to bed. Definitely a creep among creeps.

4. A bolt of lighting...
I think I've had a moment of clarity. The underlying logic of the Republican Bizarro world is coming clear to me:

They've spent the last 40 years cultivating distrust of the "liberal media" (e.g. anything left of Der Sturmer) to the point where their followers only believe what they hear on Fox "News" or right-wing talk radio (i.e. Limbaugh, Beck, etc)

Once this condition was Republican by the brain trust, the right-wing Bizarro world was born. Now the strategy seems to be get your audience (the Republican rank and file) believing a set of "facts" that are so detached from reality that it is impossible for a sane person to argue with them. This creates a delusion among the Republican followers who now believe that they win every argument (as their "logic" and "facts" prove unassailable) and when the liberals throw up their hands and no longer attempt to debate them (like debating one's AM radio while Rush is on) they believe that liberals fear their "truth".

The fringe benefit of all this is increased fanaticism among the follower republicans- making them all the more effective in their roles as useful idiots.

Hey- it's more plausible than most of Beck's conspiracy theories.

5. Hypothetical
Republicans, particularly when it comes to the Health Care Debate, make up their own hypothetical about what will happen in the future once the bill is passed.

Hence the death panel nonsense.

"If this bill passes, then the government will abort all unborn babies a panel it determines will be unfit to serve in society." I just made this up, but it is equally as valid as any of their hypotheticals about what will come when the bill is law.

6. K&R! Matthew really did just keep those GOP talking points rolling
ignoring all the facts and serious questions Thom was asking. And that finger under the nose thing while he was speaking may have been designed to fuzz up the audio quality so his vacuous droning of tired old talking points wouldn't reproduce too clearly.

There's so much pretending in the Republican right wing talking points that he really can't stop to answer any questions. "There is rationing in other countries!" -- and don't answer questions about Rationing Care For Profit here in the USA. "We're the best in the world," because famous wealthy people come to us for specialty operations, although we're 37th because of our poor record in most other areas of national health security. The HCR plan was "rammed through" even though it was excruciatingly bipartisan and I wish Single Payer had been rammed through right after the Bush Crash and Bush Bailouts.

And it is amazing how the right wingers are all so interested in responding to the "massive opposition" of the astroturf protests when they've ignored demonstrations many times that size on behalf of progressive issues.
