The pundits were wrong again

After we won the 1992 election, our media team decided it would be entertaining to do a video of all the big pundits proclaiming with a great deal of certainty that the Clinton campaign was dead as a doorknob, that there was no way no how to come back, that you could stick a fork in us we were so done, that you could put the last nails in the coffin because we were dead, dead, dead. The video, which was shown at the inaugural gala and at parties all over town, was extremely funny, as these self-assured prognosticators used every cliché in the world to say what was now known to be, well, dead wrong.

Well, I just caught a new version of this kind of video on YouTube, showing that once again the pundits have proven that they have no clue what they are talking about. This time it's about health care reform, and all of us who hung in there and fought this fight can take some pleasure in seeing again how wrong Washington's conventional wisdom can be.

1. Sadly they are right....Healthcare reform was dead
Edited on Fri Mar-26-10 04:05 PM by ooglymoogly
with the last gasp of the public option. What we have is Insurance (politely called) "reform" propagandized as "Healthcare Reform" and it will not take long for folks to figure it out and maybe then, though it is a long shot, they will fix it before the next elections.

2. I Disagree...
You can only eat an elephant one bite at a time. The administration made a significant step closer to the public option with passage of HCR, because it will be the next step forward when weaknesses in this reform package reveal themselves.

3. Obama is smarter than you think
The mandated insurance in the bill is the best thing about the bill. Once this takes effect Obama knows that not everyone can afford health insurance so then the government will do a mandated step in and help everyone pay for it. Its basically a fail safe to unsocialized socialized health care. Then when people complain that the help they are receiving isnt enough the government will have to bump up the payment or redecide if the should expand medicare to all or just go to a universal system. Believe me Obama is no neocon. He just out smarted the rethugs because they dont think that far into the future. This makes the health care situation an evolving issue because of the mandate that will only get better.

7. so are you saying the laws in this bill are worthless?
cause last i checked this was a massive step in the right direction. maybe you've had your head in the clouds and thought that there is only 1 solution to this problem. there is no linear path to fixing healthcare period. the public option wouldn't have turned this around at all.

9. No, I am saying there is not a competing factor to force down costs.
like a public option. That said, a win by any other name would smell just as sweet.

8. Look at this Bill as the birth of Healthcare Reform
It's up to us to nurture it and make it grow.

11. Could have been better
This video would have been better if it would have had the Fox news clip with Bill O'Rielly right after Scott Brown was elected proclaiming so smugly and with a condescending "matter of fact" that HCR was dead, history, no more, etc.. etc..
