1. It is just part of the con job.

You can keep the US deaths down by being selective where you engage. 160,000 soldiers is not 1/10th the strength needed to enforce peace through brute force. And the irony is that even if you could take the numbers up to 300,000, that would only make it worse because that would simply raise the stakes for the millions in the region who passionately want us out of their lives.

If you cannot put 1,000,000 soldiers on the ground there, you cannot get it under control militarily.

The only possible solution is a political one, but the neocons can't accept that because it means they lose their leverage over the area's oil.
