This is back in December but should not be forgotten, given the current climate.

Armey tells tea party crowd: ‘I’ve never seen so many attractive domestic terrorists in all my life.’

By Matt Corley on Dec 16th, 2009

Earlier this year, a Department of Homeland Security assessment was released, warning that right-wing extremist groups that are “primarily hate-oriented” and “are mainly antigovernment” were “http://thinkprogress.org/2009/04/14/dhs-report-right-wing/">likely to grow in strength” following President Obama’s election. Conservatives claimed it was “http://michellemalkin.com/2009/04/14/confirme-the-obama-dhs-hit-job-on-conservatives-is-real/">a sweeping indictment” aimed at “http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/200904170034">labeling them as terrorists.” Despite the fact that the report did no such thing, some on the right embraced the claim and began to refer to themselves facetiously as “proud right-wing terrorist(s).” At the “http://thinkprogress.org/2009/12/15/christmas-tea-party/">Code Red Rally” on Capitol Hill yesterday, former House Majority Leader Dick Armey greeted the crowd by saying, “http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/58594">I’ve never seen so many attractive domestic terrorists in all my life.”

When Armey and his conservative friends mock the DHS report on far right-wing extremism, they are mocking the real threat of a tiny minority that aims “to make changes in America through the use of political violence.” In July, the Southern Poverty Law Center released a report listing http://www.splcenter.org/news/item.jsp?aid=383">75 plots, conspiracies and racist rampages “that have emerged from the American radical right in the years since Oklahoma City.”

Listen to SPLC’s Mark Potok Discuss Rise in Extremism on NPR’s Fresh Air

Mark Potok discusses the recent explosion of right-wing extremism in an interview with Terry Gross on NPR’s Fresh Air this week. The interview came amid a wave of vandalism and threats of violence aimed at members of Congress who voted for health care reform legislation.

The SPLC recently released “Rage on the Right,” its http://www.splcenter.org/get-informed/intelligence-report/browse-all-issues/2010/spring/rage-on-the-right">annual count of active hate and extremist groups in the U.S. The report documented a surge in extremism as militias and other groups steeped in wild, antigovernment conspiracy theories exploited populist anger across the country and infiltrated the mainstream.

The report found a 244 percent increase in the number of antigovernment “Patriot” groups, which include armed militias. Potok told Fresh Air listeners that the ideas of these groups and others on the radical right are being spread and validated by mainstream media figures and politicians. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=124906766">Listen to the full interview or http://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcript.php?storyId=124906766">read the transcript.

I am glad to see the Republicans have come out of the Closet and say they are Terrorists and it is obvious that the Republicans are calling for the Overthrow of the United States Government.

7. What's not to laugh about domestic terrorism. They run domestic terrorists for higher offices.
He really was joking but there was too much painful truth in it.

I wish we could shame them with this.

9. We need the government to take this seriously as FBI seems to have done in Michigan...
Careful watch on this --

especially when country is gaining strength -- and we all feel more confident!!!

Let's not go backwards any further into GOP/NRA insanities and violence --

into their hatred and anger for minorities -- which includes women!

They've lost -- and that's when they are at their most dangerous and most violent.
