3. What is their mission? |
|
I've never been able to understand, exactly what do Americans think their troops are doing in Afghanistan? Do you realize how much it costs?

4. He's outlined the mission many times, including in this set of video clips. |

Did you watch? You may not agree with the stated mission but let's not pretend there isn't one.

I don't know what the mission is. I'd really appreciate it if you could summarize it in a few sentences?

7. So, according to this General McCrystal, the US troop mission is: |
|
"work toward improved security for Afghanistan and the transfer of responsibility to Afghan security forces as rapidly as conditions allow"
Which tells me very little, because "work toward improved security for Afghanistan" can be done in so many different ways.
The second part "and transfer the responsibility to Afghan security forces" is also a tad confusing. Responsibility for what? Which Afghan security forces is he discussing?
Finally, "as rapidly as conditions allow" sure sounds vague. Are you Americans going to be fighting in Afghanistan in 200 years if the Afghans refuse to give in? I doubt it.
My conclusion: Most Americans don't have the vaguest idea. You don't know why you are in Afghanistan. This is like the famous WMD story in Iraq - a figment of an American bureucrat's imagination.

21. "Keep the military industrial complex off my ass |
|
until I can consolidate my power and weaken the CIA. Meantime don't want my brains blown out on a street in Dallas".
That is Obama's message and I don't disagree with it actually.

I don't get it. It seems to be something you Americans use code words for, I guess. But in all the words, there must be some mission, a well defined end point, right? I don't see what it is.
My friend, I also wonder, if you need to point to a whole speech by your President, then are you sure you know why your troops are in Afghanistan? Do you even know what is about to happen in Kandahar this summer?

he first talking about finishing the job in Afganistan and this is the latest.
Thank you, President Obama for being there in Afghanistan and letting our troops know face to face that they have our support.

The material I heard from the McCrystal discussion and President Obama's speech sure is muddled. The US troops have your support to do what? Die and get wounded over there?
That's the only thing you Americans will remember in 100 years. You went, invaded, killed a bunch of people, they killed a bunch of Americans, and then you left. And nothing you do makes a difference. So what is your mission?
I mention this because you invaded Iraq to find the WMD everybody knew weren't there - even your government knew it, they just lied to get you Americans to support it.
Suposedly you invaded Afghanistan because Osama bin Laden was there and the Taliban would not hand him over. Your President Bush the Dunce said to the Afghan Taliban, hand him over, that's it. They refused to hand him over to you, said they would hand him over to a court run by the UN or another body, and your President Bush the Dunce said no. So you invaded, and Osama bin Laden moved away. And you toppled the Taliban government and put in place Hamid Karzai, a Popalzai Pashtun. And now you find the Pashtun don't like this Popalzai puppet you put in charge.
Meanwhile the Tajiks and the Uzbeks are making good profit under your colonial rule. And Pashtun from all over the place make sure they find a place in heaven full of virgins killing Americans. And do you know how many Pashtun are in this world? They reproduce faster than you can kill them. So unless you start killing Pashtun a lot faster, their numbers will keep increasing, and they will defeat you anyway.
And this is why I don't understand, what is your mission exactly? You will die for Kandahar this summer. Then you will win Kandahar, but in 100 years, Kandahar will be pashtun again. So tell me, are you dying for Afghan democracy? This is so funny.

As I expected, you were never interested in discussing anything in good faith anyway. Pretty pitiful. Enjoy the doldrums.

Interesting how you haven't mentioned where you reside...is it possible your leaders are guilty of the same thing?
