3. These ones were stopped
But imagine the consequences had they not been. Now, we wouldn't be looking at an all out war, but certainly there would have been major consequences. How many people are in these "militia" groups? How many are dangerous and how many are plotting for similar scenarios? For the most part they're inept and stupid, but that also makes them more likely to be violently dangerous.

The rise in numbers for these sorts of groups is disturbing. What's more disturbing is that they're receiving a great deal of support from the right. Ideological warfare in this day and age is something that scares me. There's just too damn many of these far right nut jobs. For personal reasons I can't own a fire arm (probably a good thing) but at times that makes me more worried. What am I supposed to do if one of these idiots wants to shoot me for my Obama sticker?

6. The reference to David Koresh and the Branch Davidians -
- in this video clip is precisely the kind of propaganda spin I am trying to call attention to in this forum. As is typical with all methodical propaganda efforts, a little bit of truth serves to make the lie more palatable.

While it is true that the Branch Davidians believed that the "end time" was approaching and they were preparing to defend themselves against the likelihood of chaos in the final days, the important difference is they were a peaceful group who never did anything aggressive to anyone and wanted nothing more than to be left alone to practice their faith. That fact was affirmed by all of their neighbors and by the local Sheriff, who regarded them as "nice, peaceful people."

But the Clinton government successfully utilized the mainstream media as a propaganda medium to demonize this group after the BATF conducted an unnecessary and outrageously excessive raid on their premises in what began as a public relations grandstanding effort. The rest is history and anyone who wishes to know the truth about what really went on at Waco, and why, is urged to go here

http://www.firearmsandliberty.com/waco.horn.html

and learn more about what our federal law enforcement establishment is capable of and how effectively the mainstream media can be used to pull the wool over the public's eyes by concealing the truth.

10. For me to say he, or anyone else, did have a thing for little girls -
- I would need to have some substantive cause to believe it. But inasmuch as the Texas Department of social services thoroughly investigated those rumors months before the raid and found them to be completely unfounded I must say no to your question.

Do you have more evidence to the contrary? If so, what is it?

14. From wikipedia
Reports from Joyce Sparks, an investigator from the Texas agency responsible for child protective services, stated she had found significant evidence that the allegations were true in her visits to the Mount Carmel site over a period of months. However she said the investigation was difficult as she wasn't permitted to speak with the children alone nor was she permitted to inspect all areas of the site. She noted that safety concerns over construction sites at Mount Carmel were either ignored or slowly corrected.

12.  they were a peaceful group

stockpiling weapons in between having sex with underage girls.

Not to mention peaceful things like from this article

http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=2026&dat=20030418&id=Pc4qAAAAIBAJ&sjid=NNEFAAAAIBAJ&pg=2840,2257484

which reads:

Seven Davidians remain in prison on charges stemming from the shooting deaths of 4 federal agents who raided the compound in February of 1993 trying to arrest Koresh for stockpiling of illegal weapons and explosives.

And there's this from Wiki:

Child abuse allegations
Reports from Joyce Sparks, an investigator from the Texas agency responsible for child protective services, stated she had found significant evidence that the allegations were true in her visits to the Mount Carmel site over a period of months. However she said the investigation was difficult as she wasn't permitted to speak with the children alone nor was she permitted to inspect all areas of the site. She noted that safety concerns over construction sites at Mount Carmel were either ignored or slowly corrected.

Just peaceful Christians ... nothing to worry about.

Koresh prophesied they'd all die in a fiery martyrdom.... and them he made it happen.

STFU!

13. Tonight's Nightline report on militias ("The Idaho militia") is pretty disturbing...
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 02:01 AM by cascadiance
They pretty much are all anti-Obama types and are posited by Nightline reporters as being a group not like the one mentioned in the above report, but "just trying to help". If I can't locate this video, perhaps I'll upload a recording myself tonight.

They show them with bumper stickers like "Obama bin Lyin', Impeach Now", and have a Republican candidate, Rex Rammell, for governor at shooting practice with them! He joked last year about wanting to have a license to hunt Obama.

These guys talk like "ready" survivalists that could go bonkers at any moment. And they are "just trying to help". They keep trying to rationalize that they are "consitutional". Some of them when asked might consider Muslims joining the group, but others expressed fear of being "shot in the back" like at Fort Hood.

They want to have the state of Idaho to themselves and would prefer liberals live in another state.
