What is shocking about this video is her Blue Dog opponent talking about the Democratic Party ''locking down the base'' to free him up to pursue independents and Republicans, which sounds like holding progressives captives by not giving us a progressive choice, just two flavors of corporate filth ice cream, GOP & DLC.

1. The music that comes up and covers up her speech at the end
sucks big time. Otherwise, she sounds great.

7. Damn straight, it sounds like it is trivializing the message rather than the building crescendo it
ought to be.

He must think the Democrats are just some mindless automatons that just listens to pretty talk.

6. everything you wanted to know about what is wrong with blue dogs is in his argument
the triangulation as a military pincer movement of flanks and other bullshit.
he said nothing about voters' point of view, just how they could be forced into voting for him as a default.

11. Nice news, wrong district.

There are districts where this kind of development would be very good news. But she herself says she gets lots of donations from Republicans. How many of those Goopers are giving her money precisely because they know she can't beat the Gooper opponent in the conservative Virginia district? Just like Republicans gave money to Ralph Nader so he would take votes away from the Democratic nominee. If this were happening in a state where a progressive had more of a chance it would be very significant. Instead, I fear that this is a false dawn that will lead to a GOP victory in the fall. This election is a midterm election. Fanatics are the ones who show up at the polls in a midterm election. That means you can't ignore the base. The GOP fanatics are all set to show up at the polls. A lot of the Democratic base is still set to stay home. (The latest polls may dispute that but I'm not going only on polls but on political logic and political history.) But I'm not sure that Krystal Ball is electable in that particular district given her liberal views on issues. The music in her ad is not the issue. What matters is what the GOP will do to her in the final election there in Virginia. She has called for a repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. I don't know if she can get away with that in that district. All the rednecks will be out in force with their guns and fanaticism on election day to stop her, like she waved a red cape in the face of a bull. I hate the DLC and what it's done to the Democratic Party. But I'd feel a lot better about Ball's primary victory if it happened in a state where she had a better chance in the final election. Her primary victory could backfire on Democrats in the final election.

12. Wait a Minute! WTF?!
You mean we could have put in candidates that ran on progressive issues and that worked to convince people that progressive ideas were the better ideas?

And Not just triangulate and sell out what we believe and value, forcing voters to choose between the lesser of the two evils and hope we guessed right?

But not selling out and moving to the right isn't "practical". I am sure a whole bunch of people on DU said so.

:grr:

17. Nobody "locks me down".
My vote is my own. That's what a democracy is supposed to be.
