11. Yep. They are angry sore losers
They had high hopes for Sarah during the election and are furious that Obama/Biden won. They wilfully go along with any opportunity that's offered to them to vent that anger and will wear whatever badly tailored ideological costume is necessary. April 09's Faux news-Freedomworks-Koch Foundation Tea Parties, Angry Town Hall Mobs, Glenn BecKKK's 9/12 rally, Bachmann's Soreloserpalooza, Lynch Mob Outside the Health Care Debate, April 10's Faux news-Freedomworks-Koch Foundation Tea Parties, Gun Rallies (sometimes heavily armed) Protesting Against Things That Don't Exist and Anything Sarah Palin turns up at.

This is why they are the most easily manipulated people in the country. Angry people are irrational. Add to that their obvious ignorance, a sprinkling of racism and a heavy addiction to Faux news and you've got your answer.

"They" are these people:

19. Thanks for ending those videos on a positive note.
I hear fixed noise and RW talking points from people who have for too long let the media tell them what to think, which they apparently do without question. So sad to see so many minds so proud of being small.

15. At least
cut the "weapons" that are manufactured out of our nation...wait that would be most of them. It is insane. Our "defense" (lol..;) weapons are mostly made in other countries. Sure they make sure that some parts are manufactured everywhere in America, so they can use that to justify their cash cow. Of course most of weapons are manufactured in China.
First, we do not need to spend more than the other "top 15 countries combined" on "defense." We rank the lowest among the top 20 countries in everything else, except maybe insanity.
Mainly, America has the worst distribution of wealth than any country in the world. How can that be rationalized? When 80% of our population only owns 3% of our wealth, it is time to redistribute that wealth.
We can create well paying jobs and implement universal health care for every American and lower our national debt just bu cutting our "defense" spending by half. Like Bill said, then we'd only be spending what the top 8 countries combined, are spending on "defense."
We are watching our country melt down. It's time to take the money out of politics and hire common (not wealthy) people to represent us. We are not by any stretch, a country of millionaires. Look at our Congress and the other branches that "represent" us. They are all (at least) millionaires. Most have gotten that way through selling their influence. The SCOTUS has recently ensured that Corporatism (Fascism) will be our form of government.

8. He just tells it like it is. teabaggers don't have a rational political point of view.
Tax cuts haven't cut our deficits in the past and they won't in the future because it gives too much money back to the rich. Why don't we argue for the truth and say that tax increases are more fiscally sound policy than cuts? It's true.

They are obviously sore losers. And if they don't carry out some widespread voter suppression they are going to lose again.

10. The road to empire is paved with failed republics
Military spending is both the 800 gorilla and the sacred cow. Most know military spending is excessive but fear saying anything as they get labeled soft on the ism du jour, be it communism, socialism, terrorism........
The military industrial complex has added a component that gives it instant credibility, they now own the mass media, major defense contractor, General Electric, being a blatant example. Remember NBC firing Phil Donahue because he opposed the Iraq invasion and occupation. Despite having the highest ratings on MSNBC, Donahue got canceled. As Country Joe MacDonald said over 40 years ago, "There's money good money to be made by supplying the army with the tools of the trade."
Every country that ever tried to impose its empire through military force has gone broke trying to have totalitarian control too far from its center of power. Other nations have and will form alliances to take down a rogue aggressor.
They told us we were bringing democracy to Vietnam. That worked out really well. Democracy imposed at gunpoint is the antithesis of democracy.
19 guys with box cutters brought this country to the brink of bankruptcy. In short, we've been robbed.

20. Love Maher-But not once did he mention how Reagan, Pappy & idiot son Bush balloned the debt
Edited on Sun Apr-25-10 02:37 PM by GreenTea
It was a good segment piece by Bill Maher, but it came across as if this all is just happening now and it's Obama & democrats debt - that they are maintaining "Empire" as well as encouraging the unbelievably huge military budget...

Nor were the other real culprits behind this US Empire madness exposed & mentioned...which of course would be the American giant corporations, hundreds of these corporations who make outrageous profits from wars and selling their wares to the military.

We were warned 50 years ago about the "Military Industrial Complex"?

Which has indeed become military & corporate world imperialism via our tax dollars!

And again, our tax funded, secret-CIA whose only real function has become merely a right-wing subversive organization whose sole goals is to create more profits and markets for U.S. corporations and the military to obtain, steal & maintain these markets for these same pay-no taxes corporations that are putting us further and further into debt.

Shameless & pitiful!

I wish Maher would have mentioned how the republicans favor debt to feed & line the pockets of their corporations and military monsters instead using our tax dollars for much need social programs & infrastructure.

Republicans prefer using our tax dollars for the rich for their corporate profit, republicans are very hush-hush behind close doors, gleefully seeing that the more debt the better, they steal our tax dollars, (for their corporations & military) and at the same time it will eventually strangle and gut ALL social programs that the republicans so despise.
