in how you refer to this ruling

you realize this ruling applied to FEDERAL elections and local elections where there were STATE laws prohibiting such spending? in local elections, in many states, the same rules about spending have ALREADY applied for many years.

in 26 states, prior to citizens united, corps and unions were already free to spend as they wished on "documentaries" , ads, etc.

iow, what this ruling changed for federal elections WAS ALREADY the law o' the land in many local elections.

prior to citizens united case, only TWENTY FOUR STATES prohibited such spending in LOCAL ELECTION

iow, in the OTHER STATES, this law CHANGED NOTHING

again, irony-cut-ladle

what citizens united did was force the states that prohibited such spending from doing so

many states ALLOWED such spending already
