"We can all do more to emit less." --BP commercial

While BP was enjoying unprecedented deregulation in the oil industry--they
were touting themselves as an environmentally conscious energy company on
America's airwaves.

After BP contributed to select political campaigns, and bought off our politicians--they
enjoyed deregulation and a massive change in industry standards--written by regulators
who were former oil-company executive.

However, we Americans saw BP commercials like this--positioning the company as a
responsible--even "green" company that very concerned about not only its carbon
footprint--but the carbon footprint that every person on the planet was causing.

Now, we discover that BP, and other oil companies paid to have their rules re-written--
in order to increase profits. Safety and environmental concerns, be damned.

We've seen the effects of deregulation in the financial sector, the food industry,
the coal industry the pharmaceutical arena and now in the oil and gas industry.

There are hundreds of other "BP disasters" just waiting to erupt. And they will.
Have we had enough yet? When will we revolt against these outrages...after the
next crisis? Or the next?

"We can all do more to emit less." --BP commercial
