21. If i can hazzard my guess, I think they mean this video shows nothing conclusive...
...is it oil? Looks more like ordinary ocean beach wash-up to me.

It's kind of embarrassing to see it getting rec'ed on DU, actually.

Obviously it's almost certain oil will reach Florida...possibly all the way around it...but getting all worked up over a video that shows nothing conclusive - and set to bad music - makes us all look like nitwits.

4. Very very sad:( I remember growing up in Santa Barbara
always getting tar and oil on me when i went to the beach....this will be so much worst. To this day in Santa Barbara there are still days when there is a lot of tar on the beach and the spill happened in 1968. This is so much worst.

15. Because it seeps naturally
Don't confuse natural oil seepage with oil spills. That's why they started drilling in the Santa Barbara channel in the first place -- from all the natural seepage, they knew there must be recoverable oil down below. The geology is a little different further down the coast, and while there are lots of oil wells in Los Angeles county, you hardly ever see tar on the beaches there.

6. Because it's not apparent what we're looking at. And the song sucks.
There are no reports of oil in Florida yet, that I've seen...and this doesn't qualify as a legitimate report.

13. It was the start of the oil film coming on shore...it was hard to see.
I saw it more as the preview of how it started...it will soon be devestating what those beaches will look like for years to come. So, so sad:(

17. Your personal taste in music shouldn't be caste out as truth.
You didn't like it. I think that is more to the truth because to me that song was good, even sincere. Not everyone's the same.

I guess too that this video wasn't meant to be a news report. It was meant to speak to another part of ourselves.

18. he/she asked why it was unreced, and that's the answre...
...the video was presented as some kind of apparent fact - oil coming ashore - which is not at all apparent from watching it. That could be a reason it would be unreced.
And some people, like me for example, may find the song annoying. That would be another unrec reason.

I think it's implied anytime anyone says "the song sucks" that they're only able to speak for themselves in that regard.

8. Incorrect
That video was wrong and obviously taken by someone not from here. I'm from Pensacola beach(15 miles away from Navarre).

That is NOT oil(yet). Those are high tide lines on the sand. Happens every time we get rough surf. And that is just sea foam in the water.
There is no oil in FL yet.

9. Ft Walton Beach checking in
I'm between Pensacola and Destin, no oil reports here thus far.

This makes me so damn sad, our beaches are so beautiful, I've lived here 21 years and every day I am in awe of it's beauty, I've never taken it for granted. I just want to lay down and cry.

14. While there will be oil there soon enough - that is just normal bubble high tide marks
when the water gets a little rough, especially when you're in an area that really doesnt get much in the way of waves looking that choppy it leaves tidal marks.

Oil will leave BLACK - no mistaking it.

Cheers
Sandy
