1. Looks like it could work in theory but the devil is in the details...
I can imagine all sorts of unexpected complications especially working at those depths.

6. Here's a picture of the "funnel" they're cobbling together...

Looks like something out of a 1950s science fiction B movie.

11. Looks like a giant rusty trash bin...
Very low tech and simple design but maybe thats why it might actually work.

2. I hope it works
But I don't want it to be spun into BP hero hour if it does. I can already see the spin zone setting up. What I don;t understand is why a rig in the middle of hurricane alley not need safty valves? Maybe congress will get off their ass now and do something.

5. +1. K&R...
Seems like every "solution" that they try only makes things worse... Good luck with this one. :-(

3. we all better hope this works... the man-made disaster will hopefully then go from
potentially being a disaster that generations talks about to being something that will cause significantly less damage, albeit a mess for some areas, years in the making.

As long as we don't hear another elected leader claiming it looks like chocolate! I just read a huge story on the Nashville natural disaster that has killed dozens in flooding and the reporter described it as, "floodwaters the color of milk chocolate". Are these people just craving chocolate, or stupid?

Anyhow, best of luck to BP's attempts to stop their mess from spreading further.

7. I feel like I'm watching a bad sci-fi movie.
How fucking stupid are we as a race? The more awake I become, the more stupid people are beginning to look as a whole. I'm beginning to pray for an end to this lunacy.

12. Godzilla will close the leak
All he has to do is to melt the sea floor, if he can quit being distracted by that pesky Rodan!

9. Hope to catch 85% of the leak, which leave a 30,000 gallon a day leak
still open. IF it works. BASTARDS

13. Bay of Campeche

I believe they tried this without success in that blowout in what I read was 165 feet of water. This one is 5,000 feet down so.... Good Fucking Luck... I hope it works of course but like I said, good luck with it.
