1. I'm incvlined not to use the watch list as an indicator.
I still remember when Teddy Kennedy and several other people in Congress wre stopped at the airport because their names were on that list. Until they can clean up the list, I think th better find another way to prevent "terrorists" from buying guns & explosives.

2. The watch list
The fact that people are on the watch list who shouldn’t be is not a reason to allow people on the list to buy a gun. It is a reason to fix the watch list and the mechanisms under which it is maintained.

If you have a list that exists to track dangerous people, then almost by definition those people should not be allowed to buy guns.

The focus of this particular debate should shift from innocent people denied their gun rights to fixing the list so innocent people can fly on planes without hassle.

3. We've become complacent over losing our rights guaranteed under the Constitution, except with guns.
When it pertains to guns, all somebody has to do is make up stuff about Obama or Clinton or Kerry taking away your right to own a bazooka and this country goes off-the-charts bananas. Gun sales run at record paces, militia groups get re-energized, people start flaunting guns in public, implying that the gun(s) will be used on the President or other public officials if they don't see things a certain way.

4. One hypocrite talking to another.. neither recognize it, and they're both wrong.
You don't strip anyone of rights without due process, no matter the right.

5. This was a Bush Adminstration proposal
under Alberto "No Such Thing as Habeus Corpus" Gonzales. I guess the only mistake the Bush Administration made was in shouting "Terrah!!" instead of "Gunz!!" when proposing this crap, eh?

Denying civil rights to based on secret blacklists, using secret evidence that can't be challenged in court, is ridiculous.
