2. Right on cue... The Bankers show up at the trough for more taxpayer money..
Edited on Mon May-10-10 12:11 PM by lib2DaBone
Privatize the profits.. socialize the loss. I'm beginning to wonder about President Obama if he goes along with this?

We are right on schedule.. we are in the 2nd leg down of the great Depression... May 1931.

The Right Wing reactionary and Bankers convinced Herbert Hoover that Social spending was the real problem. Hoover then made draconian cuts to domestic spending in the U.S. which caused great pain and worsened the depression. Hoover, on bending to the Conservatives, plunged the entire world baking system into collapse.

5. We've been told
to not "look back" at the war crimes and all of the criminality of the "W" admin. Are we not allowed to look back at and learn from history, at all? Damn. I worked for his campaign, I'm almost ready to work for his impeachment.

17. Obama is the deficit terrorist's Manchurian Candidate.
I hate to say it, but so far he has done their bidding, unimpeded.

3. Of course Obama
"didn't talk about this during his campaign", he would not have been elected. He lied. If we return the income tax rates to 1970 levels (we weren't "Socialists then) for the wealthiest 5% of the population and stop exempting corporations from income taxes, along with allowing medicaid and medicare to negotiate for medicine prices (like every other country except USA) our economy would be in great shape. Start the "green jobs revolution" that he DID promise in his campaign....America has the worse distribution of wealth of any civilized nation ! OMG, we have another ronald reagan in the whitehouse. I worked to get him elected, but I lose more respect for him every day. Tell Rahm to stick his pony. :wtf:

12. Well if thats the case
we are completely fucked. To imagine that a few hundred armed militiamen could accomplish anything against a country that spends 15x the combined world expenditures on war, is delusional. How could we know that a million citizens in the streets, non-violently protesting, would not have an impact? Dr. King accomplished change with a few hundred. Of course that was before all propaganda-all the time, tee vee. I feel confident that a million people would worry the hell out of the PTB. With numbers that large, we would get coverage and wake them up to the fact that the sleeping giant is awake and pissed off.

10. I Feel Ya But... Yes, YesThey Can. And They Would...
We need clear strong voices and the will of people to engage. We need to create a clear platform, meaningful initiatives and drive this project forward come hell or high water.

This is just a sketch:

Thesis: Elected officials from the present two party system represent the interests of corporations over and above the Constitution and the electorate. America has been lead into a dangerous and unstable condition due to the exploitation of the People’s government by corporate influence. There must be an accountability system that punishes public servant behavior that subverts electorate representation for corporate favoritism. The separation of corporations, as well as church and state, must be initiated and enforced.

Objectives

1. Make elected representatives answer to the electorate.
2. Remove corporate influence from all levels of public governance

Suggested Goals to Accomplish These Objectives

1. Publicly fund elections
2. Eliminate corporate person-hood
3. Initiate instant runoff voting
4. Eliminate electoral college
5. Ban exiting public officials from accepting lobbyist positions
6. Oversight of the Federal Reserve
7. Tax reformation
8. Budget reformation

Citizen Actions to Accomplish These Objectives

1. Strengthen and expand alternate media
2. Infiltrate existing party systems to affect changes
3. Exploit current means to pressure representatives
4. Prepare, support, and run Liberal/Progressive candidates

13. Yes, that's pretty much been the goal, but I'd like to add
a few things.
1) to speed up this attempt

a)somehow mobilize around a million progressives to non-violently take to the streets, simultaneously throughout the country
b)Field a viable third party, we could enlist some current politicians who have proven their progressiveness
c) the tax reformations need to be progressive up to the wealthiest people (not lumped in with over $200,000)
d)legislate the creation of American manufacturing
e)make Unions and collective bargaining a cornerstone for all workers
f) limit executive compensation
g)eliminate off-shore banking and tax shelters
h)have a referendum on Universal health care, after the numbers have been publicly presented by the CBO
i) harsh penalties for out-sourcing
j)reinstate glass-steagal
k)reinstate fairness doctrine
l) government investment of green technology

7. I love conservative newspeak: basic rights are "entitlements"
In fact, how the fuck does one come up with spinning something we pay for (via our social security tax) as it being an "entitlement" when we get it back after years of back breaking labor.

I love the projection of the narrative these asshole banksters come up with their tertiary syphilis-infested brains. Because I can't think of anything more entitled than these assholes who do not pay much to the whole social security fund, thinking they are somehow entitled to the entirety of it.

more smoke and mirrors. They stole the social security trust fund so they now say "It's gone, what happened?"

Long past due - we should have cut them 3 decades ago.
