As the fourth presidential candidate to “walk a day in the shoes” of an SEIU member, Senator Barack Obama yesterday in Oakland, California assisted homecare worker Pauline Beck as she cared for her 86-year-old client in his home.

I worked as a health aide at a nursing home when I was in college - I hope that both men got a little glimpse of how valuable the work is. Both commented that they were particularly touched to see how the aids treated the people in their care like family. That is how it should be.
