1. That's frigging unbelievable. That office needs to be up on
brutality charges.

But the guy STARTED TO GET UP! My God, I was afraid he was dead at first.

The guy got run over by two wheels of a truck, that's gotta do some serious damage.

2. Looks like assault with a deadly weapon to me.
Or maybe attempted murder. The suspect didn't appear to have a weapon, so there was no cause to use such extreme force.

Just another example of the inevitable result of giving a uniform to a cretin.

3. He was a fucking purse snatcher according to the comment.
That's police brutality at it's worse if you ask me.

5. Comment says he wasn't able to break because it was wet, or something.
Doesn't look like he was trying to me.

6. Total BS.
He braked just fine, after he hit the guy. The ground might be slightly damp, but it looks bone dry. The cop clearly doesn't give a damn about what he's done, as evidenced by the way he manhandles the suspect when cuffing him. A knee in the back is just what you need when you've been run over by a SUV. It's pretty clear the cop meant to hit him.

7. Not B.S. Look at the passenger side skid marks.
The brakes were locked up before the suspect was hit.

8. From what I can see,
he started braking as his bumper was making contact with the suspect.

10. The angle is bad...doesn't show much behind the point of impact.
However, with the wet ground, I don't believe the truck could have stopped in that distance unless it was braking before the impact.

...just the way it looks to me.

14. I am a bit surprised that the cop appears to make no...
...attempt to steer away from the impact. The front wheels remain straight ahead.

I'm guessing, of course, but I think the cop probably wanted to clip the guy with his fender, but got the whole thing wrong.

9. I'm not sure the tracks are from braking.
Edited on Fri Nov-10-06 02:01 PM by Kutjara
The nearside wheels are rotating and not locked-up (although the SUV could have ABS). The tracks could just be due to soft ground. There are ones on the nearside too, just not as pronounced as the ones on the far side (which could be due to the camera angle). The SUV stopped pretty easily after it hit the guy, coming to a halt within a few feet.

Most of all, though, it's the total lack of concern for the suspect's welfare exhibited by the officer when he gets out of the vehicle that tells me the collision was no accident.

13. Could be...
...and modern braking systems and stability control will often make the wheels rotate differently, so it's hard to be sure. Too bad the resolution isn't good enough to make out the brake lights clearly.

11. Bullshit. Look at the video, pause, go slowly,...
...do it a couple times. It's clear that he only braked as or immediately after he hit the guy. When you look at the skid marks, you can see that they commence within a shorter distance of the suspect than the length of the truck from front bumper to rear wheels.

15. skidding is a moot point
You gotta be a jerk off to drive across a field and expect to maintain good traction. It aint happening.

When it rains do you'all drive like its dry out?

No.

In the fall, when there are lots of leaves falling, dont you take that into consideration?

When it snows for the 1st time, how many jerks completely forget how to drive.

Thats what this cop did, he forgot how to drive.

17. Exactly.
And also, when your boneheaded driving inevitably results in running someone down, do you then jump out of your car and kneel on your victim's back while wrenching their arms into handcuffs?

16. This cop must have watch CSI last night
The episode was a follow up to an earlier one where one of the CSI's ran over a kid who was beating another man.
They were having a review of the incident and deemed the death excusable. This cop must have felt he could get away with it as well.
