1. My question is: What happens in Pakistan if we leave Aftghanistan?
And in that question is the subquestion: What happens if we leave Afghanistan and the Taliban takes over and then the Taliban and Al Qaeda supporters in Pakistan attempt to assume power and the nuclear weapons in Pakistan. There is a chance that could happen if we leave Afghanistan. There is always a chance that could happen, but the chance is greater if we leave Afghanistan.

2. We've been there for nearly ten years. Are we supposed to
stay there forever?

Maybe if we listen to people like Robert Greenwald, who appears to have more knowledge of the people there, and certainly more interest in their welfare, instead of killing and torturing their civilians, which they care very much about ~ as the huge demonstrations that have occurred frequently each time we kill their women and children, demonstrate, see here http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8338838 we spent the money on building the country, giving people something to live for, the hatred we are generating by the daily killing of their citizens, might make the possibility of them being allies, rather than enemies, more possible.

As many Afghans have said, the U.S. does not listen to or negotiate with the progressive voices in Afghanistan. They involve the worst and most brutal elements, either the War Lords, and even members of the Taliban in their fight, sometimes paying them to 'help' the invading armies.

The people are caught between two warring factions, the Taliban and the War Lords, and now they are being attacked by the U.S. and other NATO forces. They want us to leave, or to help. But continuing as we are doing, killing people, torturing them, siding with those who are brutally oppressing them, is guaranteed to result in making enemies in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the rest of the area including the ME and the Muslim World.

We could have done it differently, IF our reason for being there had not been all about oil, creating a route to the Caspian Sea ... we are not there to fight Al Queda, or Osama Bin Forgotten and while the American people may believe that, the people over there know the real reason we are there.

We will have to leave, sooner or later, just as the Russians had to leave, the British and anyone else who tried to occupy that country by force. Better sooner than later. But what we have accomplished by the slaughter and torture, is to make the region even more dangerous than it was before.

Pakistan has nukes, so does India. Those two countries came to the brink of war three times during the Clinton administration. Diplomacy worked then. But now, we have lost our moral authority and after this summer when, as promised by Obama, we kill even more innocent people in what will once again be a failed effort, it is likely that leaving will be even less likely.
