JUAN WILLIAMS: First of all, don't you think, this spill now is going to be in excess of what happened with Exxon Valdez.

BRIT HUME: Let's see if that happens. There's a good question today if you are standing on the Gulf, and that is: Where is the oil?

WILLIAMS: Where is the oil?

HUME: It's not on -- except for little of chunks of it, you're not even seeing it on the shore yet.

WALLACE: But there are some new reports that there are greater amounts of it on the ocean floor.

HUME: Oh, yes, that's true. But you know where the greatest source of oil that seeps into the ocean is? It's from natural seepage from sub-terreanean deposits. That's where most of it comes from, not from drilling accidents. So what's badly needed here is on our energy policy, and also on the realities of what really goes on when it comes to oil spillage.

WILLIAMS: But I think it will damage the environment in the gulf and damage tourism and damage fishing. I don't think there's any question this is in excess of anything we've previously asked the ocean to absorb.

HUME: We'll see if it is. We'll see if it is. The ocean absorbs a lot, Juan, an awful lot. The ocean absorbs a lot.

WILLIAMS: I think Rush Limbaugh went down this road, "The ocean can handle it." I think we have to take some responsibility for the environment and be responsible to people who live in the area, vacation in that area, fish in that area. It's just wrong to think, "You know what? Dump it on the ocean and let the ocean handle it."

HUME: Who said that? Who is saying that? No one's making that argument.

this man just talks trash. What happens to these people?? I used to like him many years ago.

Do these people swallow large bottles of stupid pills every day??

Where is the proof that oil seeps from the ground and the sea beds??

5. Britt Hume made some good points
I don't like the guy, but he did make some good points. Where's the oil? The statement about this being the worst incident ever isn't even close. At the current rate, the well will have to dump oil in the water for 200 days before it approaches the Exxon Valdez volumes.

I think there's a lot of hype and overdrive baloney being said.

23. rv, you make your propaganda more apparent
with each post. You don't know anything about the toxic dispersants BP is using to keep the oil off the surface? You know everything, including the Fact that this "spill" has already surpassed the Valdez' contamination. Go back to freeperville, your bullshit is old hat.:boring:
Three days ago, you were a Venezuelan living under tyrannical Chavez.
You are just a lying P.O.S.:freak:

4. Yet no liberals will remember to shove this in right-wingers faces in 3 months
when the spill has devastated the Keys, the Gulf Coast, and livelihoods across the Southeast.

Because liberals are like that. Short memory for trash like Brit Hume.

Did you know Brit Hume's son committed suicide? Liberals hate to draw connections there, too.

8. Sounds like a lot of hype
The oil well will be capped in three months. And I bet there won't be that much environmental damage. it's all propaganda by people who don't understand the way it works.

12. OK, Brit, here you go

The oil. If you were any kind of actual journalist, instead of sitting behind a desk and asking "where's the oil," you might go and check to see if there was oil.

It's there. It will make landfall. When it does, you owe America an apology.

20. the natural seepage
is coming out of Brit's mouth.

Tar balls have washed ashore in Key West 3-8 inches wide. Once in the loop the oil could reach the shore in less than 20 days

26. Need to measure the chemical properties
Tar balls wash ashore all the time, some are from natural seeps, some are from oil tankers washing their tanks as they sail offshore. 99 % of tar balls are from oil tankers, and there is a lot of tanker traffic in the Florida straits.

30. tar balls wash ashore all the time?
Are you a runner for fake news. They do not wash ashore all the time. Have lived at the beach in many parts of Florida. Have seen land crabs, jellyfish and sand dollars but I have never seen tar balls!

24. I wonder what rules forces right wing pundits...
to force themselves to believe stupid shit. I'm sorry; there is no 'kind' way to put it.

"I personally haven't seen the oil on a beach along the Gulf. Thus, the oil is not a problem and will disappear on its own."

Just stupid.

27. it's a matter of degree
Evidently some oil has been found near the mouth of the Mississippi river. What I have observed is very minor amounts. It appears the oil spill volume is about 30 % of one tanker's capacity thus far, therefore it can be considered as if a tiny tanker had broken apart 40 miles from the coast.

The application of dispersants seems to encourage biodegradation, which means the bulk of the oil is either evaporating or is being consumed by bacteria. This leaves those ugly orange stains (thin oil layers being consumed by bacteria which in turn provide a ground for algae and other lifeforms to form mats). The oil the bacteria don't eat becomes the tar balls, but thus far Mr Hume seems to be right, there really hasn't been that much observed. I just saw on CNN a map of the oil slick, and other than the Mississippi river delta, there's no oil within 20 miles of a coast line.

29. Shit Fume is helping the cascading erosion of FOX's credibility.
Not that there ever was any FOX credibility.

To me it's almost impossible to believe that people still tune in to FOX...but then I think about the stupidity level of a person who could have ever been conned into voting for George Bush and the picture clears up.
