A one ozt gold American Eagle should have no more a $50 to $70 premium over "spot" (melt) value, less for good shoppers. A $1000 premium (about 90%) is what Goldline allegedly charges. They are charlatans taking advantage of unsophisticated buyers.

On what? I just called for a quote just to see, and they wanted $1,245 for bullion like a SA Krugerrand, which the spot price is two bucks less than the price from NorthWest Territorial Mint, $1,246.97.

Is it a gold fund or something? What are they selling that is overpriced? The collectors coins? Overpriced by what measure, it's a collectors thing.

I don't understand what's overpriced after watching that.

Edit: To be clear, I get the immoral nature of the way the commentators are fomenting over-valuation of gold, when their business partners sell gold, and advertise gold with them.

Anthony Weiner is taking on Goldline, et al under the auspices of consumer protection, and rightly so.

In the process, he threatens advertising revenues mainly for conservative commentators, hence Beck's crybaby routine. He also casts serious doubt on those commentators' motives toward their listening audience. Finally (and a little poignantly), he ends up fighting to protect people many of whom probably cannot stand him and his ilk.

This guy doesn't just fire bullets - he lines up his shots.
In ten years he will be one of the most powerful men in America (for what that'll be worth).
