May 21, 2010 — Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson introduces a bill to cut separate funding for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and uses the money to eliminate federal income taxes on every American's first $35,000 of income. Cosponsors of this bill include Ron Paul, Walter Jones, John Conyers, Lynn Woolsey, and Dennis Kucinich.

3. This is a stimulus and a tax cut plan. What now GOP?
I wish Grayson would put up the bill so that it is presented as tax cuts so we could see who in the republican party would vote against tax cuts. I would also like to see a bill where we could choose to pay or not for military spending beyond that of the country who could legitimately attack us.

Furthermore, the wars in were brought about by the oil corporations poor business deals which abused the citizens in the middle east causing the need to protect ourselves from their rage.

Nationalize oil profits because the expense already has been.

6. For years now, what "progressives" keep telling me is that it is because of the wars that there isnt
money for poor folk... there isn't money for low=income housing, there isn't money for health care for poor folk, and on and on and on.....

I have been openly skeptical of that theory and have said time and again that if the wars were to end tomorrow, I don't see "progressives" suddenly funding the life necessities for poor people.

This is proof that I have been right on this all along..... the money would be given to "tax payers", and those of us who are poor and homeless would remain such.

So, let us now put that old excuse to rest, and face the fact... "progressives" don't WANT to make the lives of poor people any better.

PERIOD.

7. It is tough to imagine any way to reasonably oppose this bill.
Quite true, does little for folks with NO taxable income,. however he makes some excellent points,. limiting/cutting military spending is always a step in the correct direction. It is tough to imagine any way to reasonably oppose this bill. the military/industrial economy is all that keeps america afloat,. Personally I would end it outright, but a weening approach is perhaps more possible.

8. Its not tough to imagine if you are poor.
But, then, we don't matter.

Just like you so cavalierly dismissed us in your first sentence.

Kinda like swatting away a fly.

So, come November, and poor folk don't show up in the expected numbers to vote, remember what you have said here.

Dismissals have consequences.

12. Guess it's over excitement
Apologies for the first 2 erroneous links to Alan Grayson's petition. This should get uncontested support, but only about 11,400 folks have signed. Time to keep this post kicked and rec'd and DU the petition.
