Political tele-evangelist Glenn Beck preaches a daily sermon on how devoted he is to deep moral principles. Call them his "Golden Rules" since apparently gold rules his life. For a few bucks Beck sold his soul to Goldline, sellers of over-priced investment gold.

It's the perfect fit for Glenn. Scare the pants off of his Beckerhead audience that the Fascist, Socialist, Communist, Statist Obama administration is bringing economic collapse then smooth out their paranoid edge by assuring them buying gold through the company he trusts (because their checks to him never bounce and have many zeros) will guarantee financial security (to the owners and salesmen of Goldline).

3. Well done...
...I couldn't stop laughing at Beck as he contorted himself into a logic pretzel trying to explain his big-assed Soros conspiracy theory, chalkboard and all...

4. In all fairness, these gold scams are advertised everywhere
I've heard Thom Hartmann and Ed Shultz push the scam. Randi Rhodes used to in the AA days. In fact, just about every host does ads for them. (The advertiser pays a premium to have an on-air host voice a commercial because it garners more "believability" in the minds of the audience.)

6. In all fairness ?
The biggest part of the scam is Beck's involvement. And who cares how many do it? By your way of thinking it's justified by the number of people who engage in it. Would you say the same for rapes and robberies, that as more people commit them the more it becomes acceptable? It's deliberately done on TV for no other reason than to manipulate and influence the audience. Any ads should be entirely separate from the main program and if you don't buy that then I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I can let you have real cheap.

9. I don't think the other poster was excusing it.
The other poster was saying "our" hands aren't 100% clean in this matter.

8. That's why I'm not impressed with partisan pundits
Every once in a while I'll listen to Hartman. I never heard him shill for gold merchants like Goldline or Rosland but I'll take your word for it. Personally, that's one problem I have with talk radio, both liberal and conservative, many (most?) of their advertisers are bottom feeders pushing questionable stuff.

7. What I want to know is -
since gold is the only thing with lasting value, and the American dollar is apparently toast, does Beck get paid for his endorsement .... in gold? Surely he couldn't be accepting the worthless dollars, right?
