This is a fascinating report on evolutionary biology that offers a very dense background in concise terms in ten minutes. My own ultra-concise translation is: All you need is love.

The condition of mankind and his relation to his world and fellow creatures is damaged by the inability, or the destruction of the ability, to empathize. This comes, for the most part from, rejection or other emotional trauma in early childhood (IMO).

I am one who believes that a "Utopia" and "Heaven" as they are commonly understood are obscenities. The beauty and challenges of reality with its imperfections are in fact, capable of joys unimaginable and hampered as well as promoted only by our own efforts.

9. i know this. it is also the ultimate in simple. it is why i am so strident with certain issues

because it just doesnt have to be and hurts all of us.

last night at dinner our conversation was

about empathy. my 15, 12 yr old sons and 17 yr old niece, husband and i.

per the study empathy has dropped 40% in college students today compared to 30 yrs ago.

a subject a night at the dinner table, ... good stuff.
