This video is actually about impeachment, but I noticed the title as a really good nugget. Also notice that while he opposes impeachment, he agrees that the crimes have been committed.

1. Crimes have been committed but Edwards is against impeachment
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 09:01 PM by vmaus
That's called Hypocrisy.

Since Edwards is AGAINST impeachment, I am no longer supporting him for president.

2. sorry you feel that way
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 09:16 PM by jsamuel
I don't see it that way at all. Realize that none of the candidates are for impeachment of Bush. Even Kucinich from what I understand. Some of them don't think crimes have been committed while others do.

4. He isn't for impeachment of Bush either.
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 09:29 PM by jsamuel
He is for impeachment of Cheney. Well, the door is always open for you to come back if you change your mind. I haven't seen Edwards answer specifically on Cheney, but I suspect it would be the same.

10. Edwards would be the most likely candidate to prosecute BushCo crimes
Heck! In a debate last spring, Hillary wouldn't even commit to this question: Would you pardon Scooter Libby?
Most likely, more BushCo crimes will surface AFTER Jan. 09 - and Hillary would protect the DC insiders - like Bill Clinton did by ending all pending and future Iran-Contra investigations.
John Edwards is FOR the Constitution and the rule of law!!

7. Crimes Against Humanity Have Been Committed by Bush

Bush is an International Criminal.
After Cheney, he will be next.
These things must be done delicately...

But you know, if he is prosecuted after leaving office, he will not have executive privilege to protect him and the other criminals... this may be Edwards plan... indeed, something to consider.

9. Dem senators won't impeach - it would harm Hillary's presidential ambitions
Kucinich knows this - but uses the impeachment carrot to further and maintain HIS presidential ambitions.

8. Congress wants to be able to establish a footprint -- to show
what direction the Congress would take if our president did not veto every bill. I believe impeachment is important -- even necessary to safeguard our Constitution, but I understand why Congress feels as it does. It would be a different matter if we had a solid majority in the Senate. We do not, however. The terrible thing about the current situation, of course, is that this administration has committed atrocious crimes and is getting away with it. That is a terrible precedent. It suggests that their conduct is acceptable, and it will encourage future radical administrations to exert the same claim to executive power that the Bush administration is claiming. We have to win and win big in 2008. We have to take as many Senate and House seats as possible.
