1. That's the first time I saw his interview on TDS. |
|
There was no great defining moment in the interview, there was no real in depth discussion of important issues or anything like that, but Sen. Obama did a great job just being himself and showing who he is as a person. He was very relaxed and confident. He conveys a sense of calm leadership I really respect in a candidate. I wish my favorite candidate, DK, had the same grace and poise Sen. Obama exhibits. It would make him a more successful politician.

5. they are both unique in their own ways Dennis and Barack |
|
I like both of them, but Dennis seems quite focused and has a plan for the work that needs to be done, I wish Dennis would get more play. We always seem to vote against our own best interests, and Dennis would have the corporations going BS.

6. Dennis is the first and only presidential candidate |

to whom I've donated money. I like pretty much everything about him - strong progressive ideals, concrete plans to achieve his goals, and he's actually trying, really trying to change things for the better. He has a long list of good legislation he's introduced. He does not toe the corporate line and that is both a reason I love him and his biggest hurdle to higher office. It's why he gets cropped out of photos, ignored in surveys, given the least time to speak in these "debates", and marginalized even within and among his own party in Congress. They fear not only him but the world he threatens to try to create if given the opportunity. It would be a world where people matter and corporations serve them instead of the other way around as it has become.
The idealist in me wants to believe that Obama and maybe even the other "front runners" in the Democratic Party are a little more like DK on the inside than they let on but have learned not to show it to the media. The realist believes that is not the case but that DK could benefit immensely if he masked some of what he is to appear a little more like them. It's horrible and sad to have to say that but such is modern TV media driven American politics and we most likely will continue to suffer because of it.

2. I was touched that Jon remained standing until Barack sat down -- |

A little more respect in this world - to those who are deserving - could go a long way...

showcase for Senator Obama's character. When he gets a chance to talk at length (say, more than a 30 second sound bite at a debate) he is able to show himself in such a positive light. I hope he gets a chance to connect with as many Americans as possible.
Certainly I have my differences with Senator Obama on some policy issues (but I have my differences with everybody on policy issues), but having been able to spend some time with him and work with him during his community activist days I can honestly say I can not think of a finer or more honorable man. This country needs an upstanding man of character like Senator Obama so badly right now.

7. Imagine that after the Bush/Cheney cabal... |
|
we have this guy sitting across the table from heads of state. Now that we're done with the old, white, big money Republican power structure we're going to replace it with a young, energetic, African-American man named Barack Obama. If he doesn't win the nomination he needs to be involved in the next administration in a BIG way.
