3. Everything we do to promote religious tolerance is a gift to all mankind |

and to our children.
I think that the Muslim Center should be built and should be permitted to operate anywhere in the United States so long as it is willing to tolerate all people of religions other than its own and protects and advocates for the rights of people of other religions as staunchly as it protects and advocates for the rights of Muslims.
If you enjoy a right, you should be anxious to protect that same right for others.
I think that we should use the controversy over the location of the Mosque as a reminder to countries around the world of the importance of affording equal rights to people of different religions and of respecting the different religious beliefs of all people.
The month of Ramadhan is coming up. I am not a Muslim, but a couple of times, when I was younger and not doing mental work, I fasted for that month as well as I could just for the experience, just to find out what it was like and to understand that experience. Of course, I have also done forms of Christian fasting in my life. I recommend trying to do the Ramadhan fast in order to understand a little more about what that experience is. It certainly did not make me into a Muslim, but I came to understand a little more about what ordinary, non-fanatic Muslims experience in their religion.
