WTF! Are guns really necessary at all in this situation ? This is the answer for everything in America, kick in the door, whip out the guns and ask questions later. A bunch of fat dopey cops raiding a health food distributor. The irony.

1. Your OP is a bit provocative in implying that there is a policy of "gun drawn raids"
on organic food stores in California. Do you have any evidence or stated official California policy of this?

2. That was the title of the clip.
Isn't that DU policy? "gun drawn raid" was in the title of the clip.

Evidence is in the video of police officers with guns rummaging through the back of a store. As far as policy, cops these days flout policy and do as they wish. Had one of these cops killed or beat someone for coming in the back room wielding a pricing gun my guess is they would have a pretty good chance of beating the rap.

3. Just because somebody posts a video on youtube with some lame ass title does not in itself
justify a thoughtless propagation of the video in a post on DU with the same lame ass title.

And no, thinking for yourself and applying thought to your posts is not official DU policy. It is recommended, however.

6. I wonder if they are aware of how utterly ridiculous they look?
Do they go home and look in the mirror and swell with macho pride after a hard day's work, raiding the grocery store? I usually don't like to use this little smiley, it's over-worked as it is, but I have to:

14. May as well be from monsanto
they treat raw milk drinkers about the same as they treat farmers who have GE seed blown onto their field. The asylum is being run by the inmates it seems.

7. The raw food movement
just attracts people that totally piss off these RW jerks. They are totally out of control. It has nothing to do with raw food. It has to do with the clientele. IMHO.

Raiding Organic stores must be a fantasy game for them, hunting libruls.

All the video shows is 4 cops sweeping the store for any threats, some rather poorly. One using a flashlight tells me this possibly been after hours... This wasn't a raid. This looked like an alarm check or an un-secure premise. NOTHING in the vid indicates this was a raid. Where were the employees? The managers? anyone?
I hate mega-corporate farms also, but this video proves absolutely nothing.

Edit:spelling

9. Except that this isn't the first time raids on health food
stores have been reported.

11. from the LA Times...
<http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-raw-food-raid-20100725,0,4951907.story>

"With no warning one weekday morning, investigators entered an organic grocery with a search warrant and ordered the hemp-clad workers to put down their buckets of mashed coconut cream and to step away from the nuts.

Then, guns drawn, four officers fanned out across Rawesome Foods in Venice. Skirting past the arugula and peering under crates of zucchini, they found the raid's target inside a walk-in refrigerator: unmarked jugs of raw milk."

13. They are raiding it because of raw milk
the idiots have been cracking down again lately. A farmer friend told me that she's been getting random phone calls from strangers from public phone booths of all things, asking if she knows who could sell them raw milk.

People who prefer raw milk are well aware of the hyped up perils, and are also well aware of the dangers of consuming factory farmed mass produced food like substances.

15. Wow, that was one thing I missed when I moved from San Diego
I loved the raw milk.

Drawn guns? How surreal.

16. I've got no problem with going after stores for unmarked jugs of raw milk.
Raw milk that was obviously labeled as such and warned that it wasn't pasteurized, would be a little less of a health threat.

But the guns drawn part is absurd and dangerous.
Someone that's so scared and nervous they have to have a gun out no matter what they do is the exact LAST person that should be waving a gun around. They may end up shooting someone for walking around the corner and startling them.
