... that the , "Do as I say, not as I do" attitude is catching up with this WH. God bless Jenk and Dylan and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Keith and Rachel, for exposing the hypocrisy of this administration.

Cenk said it better than I have been saying it all day long on here. I figured he would. I disagree with him on one point, he said that Democrats dont fall in line like Republicans. I disagree and I am sure anyone that spends any amount of time on here, knows that isnt true.

I've said that numerous times since Obama was elected, surprised at having to defend myself on points I'd made on this board all throughout the Bush years.

Best line: "cause we're principled."
That's the difference. Obama will never be considered to be a great president because he has no principles or if he does think he has them, he certainly never has the courage or strength to act on them. He sounds principled, but he isn't at all. He's just another opportunistic politician.
It's really sad, because America needs a great leader to bring us out of this recession and out of the division in the country.
Obama is kind of a manufactured political star, I am beginning to think.
For example, tonight, I was listening to Obama give one of his campaign speeches.
You know what I have never been able to figure about him is where he got that southern accent he sometimes uses when he speaks. My best guess is that he imitates old recordings of Martin Luther King. He gets a certain sound in both his voice and his pronunciation that is reminiscent of King. It's also possible that he learned that slight drawl from the preacher(s) in his church in Chicago.
He never lived in the South. They don't talk like that in Hawaii, in Los Angeles (Occidental College) in New York City (Columbia) or in Massachusetts (Harvard). And I doubt that people talk like that in Chicago either. So, I would like to know who Obama is imitating when he gives some of his speeches.
Obama seems to be a nice enough guy, but quite willing to be the tool of the bankers. It's sad. He has a lovely family and, like I said, he is a nice guy. But when the bankers are done with him, when he is no longer useful to them, he won't have much support from the rest of the country because he has not done what is right for the country as a whole.
He really needs Elizabeth Warren in his administration - to give him a more balanced choice of viewpoints and information.

43. Unfortunately, Obama may very well be: |

the first and last black president this country will ever have. He will go down in history as an experiment that failed miserably, never to be repeated again. So sad!

8. We should just bypass normal channels, and nominate Cenk for President. |
|
That's who I want for President - a true Patriot . . . and a real patriot - like Thomas Paine. In Common Sense, Paine Blasts the King and all the ruling noble class - told the truth, similar to Cenk. These TEA Partier's, probably have never taken anything near a college lever American History class. Cenk knows all that stuff, plus he's trained as a lawyer - I think.
However, here's my real question: How many democrats aren't progressives, yet, they still voted Obama? He appealed to about anyone who wasn't right wing, I could be wrong on that - google time. Anyway,

Seriously.
This guy brought you Reagan and Bush and you want to nominate him President?
His only real similarity to Paine is the fact that he employs rhetoric to try to arouse resentment toward the President and his administration. He's a propagandist by inclination, but not much of a journalist. He still reeks of amateur vlogger.
I can't wait to vote for Obama again in 2012.

|
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 05:57 AM by JTFrog
If you don't understand my right to express my desire to do so here on this Democratic forum... then you're in the wrong place. If you think that Obama equals Bush... then you're in the wrong place. If you think you can walk in here and say Obama supporters are the same as Bush supporters... then you're in the wrong place.
While it's obvious that you're in the wrong place, I won't be going anywhere. And I'll never regret voting for Obama in 2008 or 2012.
Anyone who thinks they can tell me otherwise, can suck it.
Oh and the one who actually pulled the lever for Bush is being praised in this very thread. Go figure. :eyes:

(except for the canada thing)
THE LEFT IS NOT GETTING OBAMA'S BACK as long as it has no organized targeted response for dealing with the right's most important political tool- the 1000 coordinated radio stations that steer and feed media in this country- until then get used to the compromises. that coordinated UNCONTESTED repetition is why we are in iraq and have lousy health care and why the teabagers have more political/media power than the bloggers.
we got obama in there yes but the left collectively ignores the rights most important weapon while it pot shots all day, our causes, and our representatives. and they've been doing it for 20 years, since reagan killed the fairness doctrine. get used to the compromises.
corporate power must have a constituency for it's bought politicians to point to and the talk radio monopoly provides it- while the left allows it.
until the left fixes the radio problem forget the kuciniches and wellstones. we don't have time for legislating a fix but if the left finally gets off their asses and pickets the radio stations that do the groundwork for all the right does it can WIN seats in November. until then liberals WILL NOT BE GETTING THEIR REPS BACKS. and they shouldn't expect them to stick their neck out.

30. doesn't have to be a new fairness doctrine- we don't have time anyway |
|
we have three months - to challenge the right's best weapon means monitoring the main talkers and alerting the targets, summarizing the spin and framing for the left, letting the media know when they're channeling irrational hatemonering racist liars like limbaugh and sons, picketing the radio stations in our communities when they lie about and threaten our representatives.

The fairness doctrine is the best first step of a long campaign to undo 30+ years of neglect to honest politically discourse in this nation.
And you forget perhaps the most important action we can take-watch where we spent our money. Corporations spending millions to get their way need to be dropped from our shopping lists and told why! You can be damn sure that Target gets none of my business.:bounce:

35. Amen. If team Obama fucks that one up they'll lose their last Progressives |
|
All that they''ll have left is the line toeing sycophant water bearers who will happily move as far to the hard Right as they're asked to. The fanboy fanatics are a tiny but very vocal minority; not enough of them exist to help them win another election. Especially if any viable challenger steps forward. We're past ready for REAL change!
