And here we are, reinforcing al Qaeda’s message that we’re at war with Muslims. So we’ve got this issue; then we’ve got the 14th Amendment issue, where Republicans are saying you’re not welcome here, when we were the architects of the 14th Amendment. So, I see a bad pattern where we’re headed as a Republican Party.
McKinnon said he believed President Obama has “done the right thing in stepping forward at this time on this issue.” He added, “Tolerance means tolerating things you don’t like, especially when you don’t like them. … I respect the President for making this move.”more...

Good for him for speaking out about this. Definitely a bad pattern on the GOP, noperism has taken them over.

"We freed the slaves", "We passed the 14th Amendment"- You mostly only hear it from the dopes in the street and not the politicians themselves, but they use it to try and say they aren't the racist party, but the Democrats (who, according to them founded the KKK) are. The fact that all this happened in the 1860s- back when the Republicans were the liberal, progressive party, and the Democrats were the conservative, establishment party- is completely lost on them. Since then there has been a 180 degree realignment- something else the Gop "office pundits" fail to recognize.
And what is this Grand Old Party shit anyway? the Gops were founded in the 1850s whereas the Democrats were one of this country's founding political parties. (The misinformed and ignorant commonly believe that the Democratic Republican Party split into the 'Democrats and the 'Republicans', when in fact they merely shortened their name to the 'Democratic Party' in the 1820s) If there is a 'Grand Old party' it makes more sense to me that it should be the Democrats. Of course if you interpret it to mean that they represent rich old people, then the 'Grand Old Party' moniker does more accurately apply to the Republicans...
