looks as though the people inside found it very entertaining...hope it makes them think.

I wonder if some people walked out afterward and went elsewhere?

63. Elsewhere? Where's "elsewhere"?
We decided to shop at Target in order to boycott WalMart.

Now we'll have to boycott Target as well.

But where else can we buy all those cheap clothes and stuff, made by Chinese and Vietnamese children at fifteen cents an hour?

Bummer!

Ya mean to tell us that we'll have to shop at Mom and Pop's little store on Main Street?

But they went bankrupt last year, right after WalMart came to town.

66. true that
Happens in little towns around here all the time. Lots of happy jumping and clapping and cartwheels because Wally World is coming to town. Complete with lots of special concessions from the municipalities: zoning modifications, infrastructure, renaming streets, getting to sleep with the mayor's wife two nights a week.....

Boy, now we're in the big time, ain't we?!

Then about six months later:

"How come nobody don't come downtown anymore?!"

27. Well, Walmart is raising their prices to "increase their bottom line," and are thus taking away
the reason most people who do shop there, shop there. If there are little or no differences in the prices, then people will go to Food Lion or Winn Dixie rather than Walmart.

46. Since you mentioned stores in my area - I go to Publix!
They *are* cheaper most of the time. They pay a higher than min starting wage AND...have the best quality/selection. They also tend to promote within the store w/benefits for part-timers.

So as I was saying, I shop at Publix!!
Cheers
Sandy

18. Say why not come over to Cedar Falls IA
March from the damn store the built there (Cedar Falls City forced them to do it to give them a tax cut for building the fucking Distribution Center and then the Frozen Food Distribution Center and march on down from that store to the distribution centers.. Yes my brother is a Republican but he's family and Target fucked him. Lured him away from a well paying job, trained him, hired him as a regular then fired him along with a number of others with the seasonal staff during the summer. (he says because they want Robots who don't think) He used to be a Democrat, sometimes I still think he still has some of the Democrat in him somewhere. Really mentioned even thinking UNION at the distribution center would get you fired. I've been there. About a week before they fired a ton, they had the employees be the slaves and take them on tours. Son of a motherfuckers. (or the new one which isn't demeaning to women brotherfucker)

A is the store (just below A, ain't built yet in the picture) But looks like the Distribution Center and the Frozen one have been updated below B. Figures. (wonder how much Target paid to put the Frozen Distribution Center in that picture. clearly it's been grafted in.)

20. haven't shopped Target since I head about the $$ donated.
Been over three weeks now and I am 400 dollars richer for it.

haven't shopped Wal-Mart since 1999.

My wife bought a gift card there for 30 bucks since we were on the road and needed a card for a gift and it was the only pace in town.

It killed me to see it in our bank statement. I wish we just gave him 30 bucks instead.... I still regret it.

Gays have been calling it that long before Colbert. It was to denote Target had more trendy interesting designs in its merchandise than Walmart. The gay label for the store is used deliberately because of the money controversy they are protesting.... and it rhymed.

41. Of course, they knew this was coming
So Target decides to test the waters, since everyone needs their Chinese Crap, Malibu Barbie's, Electronic Doodads and Gizmo's, Toilet Paper, Bread with Dough "Enhancer", and the 25 different models of Vacuum Cleaners in radiant day glo colors that don't vacuum at all.

Meanwhile, the people in the nursery section breathe pesticide fumes from the huge stock of poorly packaged chemicals, while they cut back on food plants and ornamentals, because the drones are too stupid to see that the plants need water on a hot day..

Yet, they can spend huge sums on political campaigns, yet when it comes to actually teching their employees a new skill, they fall flat on their ass.

The short-term savings you get by shopping at big box stores has the long-term effect of destroying decent-paying jobs and gutting local economies. Then there's the ethics of buying merchandise produced by sweat-shop labor.

As someone pointed out on NPR yesterday, the reality is that we are just "teaching" them to hide their contributions better, through organizations that don't have to report their donors. But in the mean time there is some room to have fun.
