Cannabis is not like tobacco: cigarettes are processed and have tons of chemical additives. It is cut straight from the plant and then dried and cured in 'bud' form, without further chemical additives (unless the DEA poisoned it with Paraquat, as they did in the 80s).
Will there be large farms and brand names after legalization? Certainly. But it will be much more similar to a microbrew/homebrew setup: while just about everyone may purchase medicine from a center or dispensary, many millions will grow their own (and already do!) at home after sampling different strains. I know just as many nerds obsessed with homebrewing specialty ales as I do geeks who dream of sativas and indicas.
Another interesting comparison is the tomato market: although millions of dollars of the red fruit are sold every day and grocery stores around the nation usually have an abundance, many people choose to grow heirloom tomatoes in their back yards or in hydroponic systems so they may focus on specific strains of the plant and have the simple pleasure of gardening all for themselves.
Decrim is a messy grey area that has allowed the feds to continue to arrest innocent plant users while fueling the drug cartels. The ONLY way to end this nonsense is to end Prohibition forever.
