"vicarious" since 10,000 Days came out. ;)

7. Let them eat maps
I am amazed and appauled that she didn't take more advantage of the US educational system herself.

Perhaps Oprah can give a slot in her new school to her since she seems to think SA needs the help!

9. I was actually watching as it happened
My parents were visiting, we were channel surfing and noticed there were only about 25 minutes left. Mom says, "That's the best part!" And that's when we saw it- we went back three times on the DVR to decipher what she was saying.

How did she get past the first round? Are the rest of them even worse? And where is a hand smacking the head smilie when you need one? This will have to do:

:banghead:

or perhaps an NRA sticker on her Suburban ("Daddy didn't want me to get hurt when I get into my next accident, y'all!!!").

I'm sure she'll birth a half dozen little nazis over the next decade married to Mr. former football-star-cheerleader-rapist. For those of you wondering where republikans come from, here's your answer.

Show me a kid who can't find the US on a world map, and i'll show you school that does not have a world map in their classrooms.

What do we expect her to say, "Because Geography is not part of standardized testing, maps and globes are rarely budgeted"?

Poor thing.

28. This, unfortunately, is probably not uncommon.
With that kid, it's all about her looks. She's probably very popular, has lots of boyfriends, and has skated by in school.

I don't think she had the faintest idea what she was being asked, and rather than ask for clarification, she froze and ended up spouting gibberish.

I love the title of your thread. Very appropriate.

30. Reminds of Jay Leno's occasional brief...
...interview segments where he puts very rudimentary questions to ordinary citizens on the street or in a mall --- always funny, but not funny. What it never fails to confirm is how incredibly poorly educated we citizens of this supposedly wealthy superpower called the United States really are. It is both embarrassing and shameful, and the powers that be wouldn't have it any other way. George Carlin said it best:

"...they want obedient workers -- people who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork and dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shitty jobs with the lower pay, longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime, the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they're coming for your Social Security money ... and they'll get it..."
