On Sunday, August 22nd, 2010, we sat down with Professor Marc Gopin, the Director at the Center for World Religions, Diplomacy, and Conflict Resolutions (CRDC) at George Mason University. We discussed the controversy over the proposed Cordoba Mosque in lower Manhattan, blocks from ground zero, and the upcoming peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

In this clip, Professor Gopin discusses the use of emotion in politics and his belief that President Obama's administration has not been good about using emotion.

1. "Nobody's rational"
Edited on Mon Aug-23-10 04:47 PM by AlbertCat
He said as he rationalizes why "intellectuals" have no feelings? :eyes:

All that appealing to "hope" and "Yes we can" was the lack of emotion that caused Obama to lose so badly in the last election.

Y'see... education is the problem! Not the lack of it.

:eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes::eyes:

What a bunch of gobbledygook!

2. I agree with Prof. Golpin.
Obama appealed to our emotions during the campaign. He has hired a bunch of policy wonks who do not appeal to our emotions.

That's why he needs Elizabeth Warren. She can speak to us in emotional language.

Geithner cannot. Summers cannot. Bernanke cannot. None of them can.

Warren is the only likely candidate for Obama's economic team who can speak to our emotions, who can translate the academic thought on economics to those of us who live in the real world and not in ivory towers.

Prof. Golpin is absolutely right in my view.
