1. This shows how stupid the media is by and large...but
it also shows how hard it is to "vote the bums out!"

Which is tough for the Teabaggers... but it is also tough for Democratic Party progressives and hidebound old liberals like me.

2. It shows how much the media attempt to create news, rather than reporting it as they're supposed to.

16. It is.
Their objective is to depress Democratic participation in the election. It can have a tangible effect.

The media has an agenda.

38. You are correct
The "liberal" media's mission is no to report on the mood of the people. They feel their role is to manipulate the public's attitudes.

23. or to relentlessly spin the analysis while begrudging the facts
the MSM almost always tells viewers how to feel. Sometimes they scream "fear" (as in Killer Bees, Y2K, 911, Wall St Meltdown) but sometimes it is more subtle. This projection of "fervor" falls somewhere in the middle IMHO.

25. I for one am grateful to the MSM for warning me about that angry Howard Dean fella
"The scream scene was shown an estimated 633 times by cable and broadcast news networks in just four days following the incident, a number that does not include talk shows and local news broadcasts."

10. Utah
Bennett DOES NOT COUNT! The VOTERS of Utah DID NOT OUST HIM!! A few RADICAL DELEGATES DID!! Poll after poll showed Bennett in the election was the choice of the VOTERS. but our state still uses the outdated delegate system so these radical teabaggers decided Bennett was too liberal for them and voted AGAINST what the PEOPLE of Utah wanted. So all in all 6 incumbents lost their seats to VOTERS of their states.

8. I wonder if Chuck Todd ever listens to his much more esteemed colleague...
He was on the Today show this morning, crowing gloom-and-doom about the Dem's chances this November and how they've got six weeks to pull this out.

I also wonder about Mr. Todd's "journalistic" intentions when he pushes such a line of (insert expletive here). Perhaps his interests are more, shall we say, "vested"?

Great reporting from Rachel, as always. I'm gettings spoiled! :P

I think that this is a clear and unambiguous "tell" which illustrates just how the MSM has engaged in a masturbatory effort to stampede the voters into following their stupid anti-incumbent meme (taking their cues from the phony Baggerz movement), and to vote against them (mostly Democrats) in the hopes of providing a wall of opposition for the Obama Administration. Increase the conflict and you've got more stories to hawk and scream at people. And the global ownership is happy too. They win no matter who loses.

But. It. Did. Not Work.

- You know, the Associated Press hasn't been shit ever since they let Rupert Murdoch onto their board of directors.

I know she is this because they said so on some news show.

15. Thank you Rachel. We can always count on you to set the record straight.
This demonstrates once again how utterly worthless our mainstream news media has become. What annoys me is that the news media, rather than reporting the news or sticking to facts, drives public sentiment with this kind of nonsense. All the sensationalism and controversy leaves Americans with their heads spinning in circles never knowing what to believe, or simply believing in things that aren't even true.

26. Link to first McCain victory article i googled:
"PHOENIX — Sen. John McCain routed conservative challenger J.D. Hayworth on Tuesday in the Republican primary in what could be the final campaign for the former GOP presidential nominee.
Click here to find out more!

McCain spent more than $20 million to beat back an aggressive challenge from Hayworth, who relentlessly attacked the senator for his shifting stance on immigration and sought to tap into the anti-incumbent rage that has taken down other lawmakers in 2010."

34. I wish it were just "mindless repetition," but there is a method to the propaganda madness,
that being manipulation of the American Peoples' perception.

Those pundits and anchor people have access to the same information as Rachel and even after Rachel's commentary do you believe their Republican friendly, corporate supremacist talking points will change?

I highly doubt it.

Back in the late 90s there were times when a few journalists pointed out the absurdity behind the slander and libel war the corporate media had waged against Al Gore with his so called claim of "having invented the Internet."

This was a blatant lie, Gore never said it, nor anything remotely like it, the record bears it out, but even after some journalists with at least an ounce of integrity pointed this out, nothing changed with the corporate media, they even repeated this slander for a time after the selection of 2000.

The only way the corporate media could enable such a corrupt, incompetent; as Bush to power was to trash Gore's credibility, the nation paid a heavy price for that betrayal of the American Peoples' best interests, but I don't believe the corporate media care and I don't believe they've changed.

Thanks for the thread, ProfessorPlum.
