US military campaigns overseas do not achieve anything, believes founder of the website Anti-war.com Eric Garris. Speaking to RT, Garris reminded that the US economy is being hampered by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Since Barack Obama was elected we have seen a lot less attention to the wars. The anti-Bush atmosphere that was around focusing on the war has disappeared. Now most people don't realize that we still have 90,000 troops in Iraq, over 100,000 troops in Afghanistan. And that number is going to go up. They don't see that this is what's causing problems with the economy,"

2. I think Orwell said it best.
"Perpetual war is the most efficient way of destroying the products of human labor." ...or something to that effect.

Imagine all the things we could be building with all that military spending? We could jump-start the green economy, alternative energy, etc. Imagine how much we could be growing our economy?

Instead its all going down the tubes. And for what? "Democracy in the Middle East?" Try theocracy. Iraq is turning into a Shi'ite Muslim puppet state of Iran. People there are worse off thanks to our meddling than they were even under Saddam Husseins oppressive rule.

Afghanistan is another Vietnam, just more protracted with less concern since, after all, its a "volunteer" army, so its THEM fighting the war, and not US.

What will it take to end these bogus wars? Until we see the mass protests and left-wing "domestic terrorism" of the 1970's come back, it may never end... just like in 1984.

5. This is the only time
when war didn't create jobs. Then again, taking money out of circulation and handing it over to oil oligarchs and well connected defense contractors is all part of supply side economics. It's all about imposing corporate feudalism on the working class and increasing CEO bonuses.
And it's all done in the shadows because people are distracted by idiotic TV shows and fools throwing a hissy fit over what's built or not built two blocks from the site of the World Trade Center.

6. Terrorists won
They won this battle. They have American's all tweaked out and afraid. (just look at the Mosque debate in NYC) They have bankrupt the United States. Come on now. You do not think twice sending 8 billion a month for war but heaven forbid spending 25 billion (which will be and is being paid back) to save one of the backbones of the American economy: The Automobile business.

7. "Tweaked out and afraid"
That's exactly the right phrase. Everyone seems to be ready to snap at each other these days.
