Online ordering is now available for educators interested in obtaining a free copy of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest Teaching Tolerance film – Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case that Made History.

Bullied tells the story of Jamie Nabozny, a student who stood up to his anti-gay tormentors and filed a federal lawsuit against his school district. The suit led to a landmark court decision finding that school officials could be held accountable for not stopping anti-gay abuse.

The film and accompanying educational guide offer lessons for both students and educators, showing viewers that anti-gay bullying is wrong. It will help students recognize the harm caused by bullying and help teachers and school administrators understand their responsibility to help stop the harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students.

1. I think that is fine and good
but we should also be promoting self-defense. Sometimes a good lesson for school bullies is a good old-fashioned ass whooping.

2. NO, kids don't fight with fists these days, only the nerds and the Ninja's do that
other bullies get guns and knives, and kids wind up dead.

Don't you watch any reality TV at all?

Google teen on teen homicide.

3. I've never seen a kid kill another kid on reality TV. Which shows are you watching?
Also, violent crime in minors is way, way down.

4. Give me a fucking break.
Stop blaming the victims of bullying for being 'less than.' It's the behavior of THE BULLIES that needs to be changed, not the behavior of the people they pick on.

Your agenda is pure bs.

7. I completely agree with you about not blaming the victim,
but I don't believe that was bluestateguy's intent. He wasn't saying that bullied kids were "less than" they should be. Of course, the bullies are the ones who have problems. After all, by definition, a bully is an agressor who CHOOSES to not mind his own business and tries to make someone's life miserable for his petty enjoyment. As someone who was picked on some when he was in junior high and high school, I now wish that I had learned how to box (something, amazingly enough, I did not even consider, since I wasn't interested in sports). I would have been able to challenge my tormentors to meet me after school, plus I also would have been able to defend other students who were bullied worse than I was. Again, I repeat, I don't blame the victim. That nonsense has to stop.

6. Yeah, that will work
Until you realize something called "Zero Tolerance", that actually punishes the victim than the perp!
