1. I don't have a problem with the mosque being built there
but I don't it should be built to thwart future Taliban recruitment. I doubt I'd cite this in my support of the community center being built.

2. Except that many who oppose the cultural center do so because they believe it's a shrine
to terrorists, etc.

So this Newsweek report is in fact incredibly relevant to tearing down one of the more common justifications for opposing the center.

5. but you are asking those who oppose the cultural center
to stop opposing it simply to prevent future recruitment of Jihadists. I think there are stronger arguments to make to stop opposition to the cultural center and I know there are much better ways to prevent future Jihadists.

I doubt many morans are going to be able to get beyond the perception that we are just appeasing the 'future' terrorists. I could be wrong.

6. Disagree
No reason to ignore the damning fact that terrorists use this stuff to recruit since it's not an either/or argument. That is to say you can use this as part of a comprehensive argument rather than using it by itself.

The more facts you have the better. A strong argument against one person might be weak against another so it's better to have as many options as possible to fight ignorance.

into the Talibans hand. Basically because Americans have been kept too stupid to understand things.

(on edit: i hope i have my facts straight about the Sufi/Taliban dynamic...?)

7. well hell
never crossed my mind. What Cenk is saying is that the cons, who have made it an issue enough to arouse the country to fear, have now stoked the fire again for recruitment. It's not whether it should or shouldn't be built. We sort of bypassed that discussion into full blown assertions that daily prayer calls will be made 3 times a day publicly near a sensitive sight..and in time will become a recruitment center itself. Conveniently omitting the data that American muslims died on 9/11. But that was their intentions wasn't it.

Something that had never been question before where many other mosques have been erected including the one at the pentagon since 9/11.

Thanks for posting Tom. Republicans are pure evil
