She did in the debate try to defend her false claims of beheadings and talked about how scared the people are in their own homes. In advance should our state elect this woman I am so sorry we really are smarter than that.

1. oh my...loved the crickets. That should be part of her Democratic opponent's campaign ads
Edited on Thu Sep-02-10 09:46 AM by BrklynLiberal
should she win the repuke nomination

edit: oops. She already IS the repuke candidate? How the hell did she ever get elected for anything in the past?
Or did she...?

2. She did win the Repuke Nomination
91% to 9%. Sad part is she is 20% ahead of Terry Goddard who is not only intelligent but he can talk on camera.

What a pair of incoherent, ignorant idiots ...oh wait...they are repuke women.. That explains it.

I guess the women that the party attracts cannot be expected to be of any higher caliber than the men..

I had arrived at the opposite conclusion... For election as a republican, the farther the dial points to stupid, the greater their chance for success. ;)

20. Jan Brewer was elected Secretary of State of Arizona
several times. When Barack Obama nominated Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano (Democrat RE-elected in this somewhat red state) to be Homeland Security Secy following the 2008 election, Brewer became governor. Arizona does not have a "Lt. Governor" or other such office; Secy. of State is next in line.

Brewer has long been known as a wingnut, which is one reason some of us AZ Dems were not exactly overjoyed when Napolitano accepted the nomination and left us with Brewer.

For what it's worth, Kansas is in a similar situation, having lost their Dem Governor Kathleen Sebelius to a cabinet position. While it's nice that the Administration thought enough of them to move them up the ladder, so to speak, it kind of abandoned two states that might have gone blue with effective Dem leadership.

What's great about this video is that it's from the Phoenix media.

36. Brewer shrewdly positioned herself as SoS to make a run for Governor...
...and caught a lucky break with Napolitano's appointment. Of course, she did damage as your SoS, too, by disqualifying legal registered voters (among other things).

The Daily Beast did an interesting profile on Brewer three months ago. Best quote:

"Brewer has a shrewd strategic mind masked by the chipper persona of a Barbie Doll emeritus who has yet to master the king’s English."

45. Brewer's been in state politics for years.
State rep and senate, county supervisor, then SoS. Nothing particularly "shrewd" about that: it's what any successful politician with their eye on higher office would do. They run for one office and if they win, they run for a higher one. Napolitano was Attorney General before she ran for governor, same as Terry Goddard.

Other than that, Brewer's a piece of shit.

42. It may no consolation but...
I thought about how Obama's appointments would affect the states and elected offices they changed. Brewer in AZ was one of the major changes. Janet Napolitano should have been left right where she was. There did not seem to be much strategy from the states side, just the new presidents.
I kind of feel sorry for her, a candidate has a helk of a lot going on. That said, she is frickin' crazy and I definitely feel her opponents should pounce, they would be pretty dumb not to.

As a woman, this is beyond embarrassing. As soon as we make major strides, someone like Brewer - or Palin - or Angle - come along and bring back all the stereotypes of women that we have tried so hard to overcome.

"As for that opening statement, Brewer said in an interview Thursday that her mind went blank. "If someone had asked me my name, I wouldn't have been able to tell them," she said.

http://www.azcentral.com/news/election/azelections/articles/2010/09/02/20100902arizona-governor-debate-brewer-response.html

Yes, this is the best Arizona Republicans could come up with. As the saying goes, voters in this state will vote for anything with an "R". But, the state is looking more purple all the time, and pandering to the racist xenophobes is a losing strategy in the long run.

Ignorance is a Republican virtue and selling point. It's part of the "liberal elites" theme the pubes have been playing since Reagan.
They hate the educated and the working class. Their appeal is to losers who can't think for themselves and choose to let others like their religious leaders and Pox News do the thinking, so the foolish and lazy can concentrate on banal, thoughtless TV shows.
