10. Whoa - creepy!!
So that's the one he dumped his cancer-stricken wife for (didn't he do that twice?). That chick will haunt my nightmares.

What a shameless, fear-mongering, hate-spewing piece of shit he is!!!

6. I'm changing the title of this post to COMBUSTION. It is interesting that the speaker
Edited on Fri Sep-10-10 12:53 PM by peacetalksforall
that Maddow used in her story about celebrations on this 9-11 involved two little excerpts that from my unknowing eye appears to match up with the face and accent of Bernard Lewis. I haven't paid any attention to this person until now. It is also interesting that the visuals that she chose to leave out may be views having to do with - combustion!

This is from an article written for the mag/blog? Human Events by Newt and Callista Gingrich promoting the film by the Citizens United people that launches tomorrow.

Two paragraphs from the article:

"Yet the facts are amazingly clear. In America at Risk we interview several experts including Bernard Lewis, Michael Chertoff, John Bolton, Frank Gaffney, and Michael Ledeen to outline the facts about Radical Islamist ideology that threaten America.

Radical Islamists are people who want to impose Sharia (or Islamic law) on the entire world. In America at Risk, expert after expert describes the Radical Islamists’ determination to impose an extraordinarily different system on us. These Radical Islamists are profoundly different from moderate Muslims who want to live under the rule of Constitutional Law and have the same freedoms the rest of us cherish. In America at Risk, Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, a courageous moderate Muslim, draws a sharp distinction between Muslims who want to live in America as a free country, and Radical Islamists who seek to destroy America. "

http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=38897 (This is an article In Human Events by Newt and Callista Gingrich - about the film).

Take a look at the guest experts - that is one repulsive, hate filled list of names.

Now the person speaking in the Maddow piece looks like Bernard Lewis based on other photos, one of which may be him in an older photograph related to Combustion, though the older Lewis is mostly known for being a historian, a controversial historian.

I will verify that the person in the Maddow piece is the same Lewis, in the meantime - take a look at this photo. Did any of you know about the Symposiums of Combustion, Flame and Explosion. Lews is a member? Lewis, who is a member in the gang of Bolton?

And here's an article about women in combustion. There is a Combustion Institute and here is an article about the women in the group.

"Marjorie Evans with Bernard Lewis (center) and other members of the Committee of the Third Symposium on Combustion, Flame and Explosion Phenomena, 1948. Dr. Evans, Stanford Research Institute, was Program Subcommittee Chair for the Twelfth Symposium (International) on Combustion in 1968."

Here are recent photos of Lewis and the more recent one is in the Maddow piece.

More recent photos of Lewis.

I would think that phsyicists would be members of the Combustion Institute, not historians, but it could be the same Lewis that is in the film.

The name for the Institute's Journal is .............Combustion and Flame.

8. I haven't proved that the Bernard Lewis in the Maddow piece is the same
Bernard Lewis of the Combustion Institute - however ------

here is another piece about Bernard Lewis the policy expert on Islam, etc. .... (from Time Magazine)

"A few months after the attacks on New York City and Washington on Sept. 11, 2001, several key Washington figures were invited to dinner at the Vice President's residence. The star turn was by an elderly professor from Princeton, whom Dick Cheney asked to conduct a seminar on Islam, the Koran and Muslim attitudes toward Americans. The teacher was Bernard Lewis, now 87, who first studied the Islamic world in his native London in the 1930s and — with a break spent serving in British intelligence during World War II — has been engaged in a life of scholarship ever since. But it is only in the past few years that the depth of Lewis' influence on key U.S. policymakers has become clear.

In a 1990 article in the Atlantic, Lewis identified the struggle between Islam and the West as a "clash of civilizations," long before the term was fashionable. The roots of Muslim rage, he argued, lay less in any evils of the West than in a "feeling of humiliation" in the Islamic world, deriving from the fact that Muslims' proud civilization had been "overtaken, overborne and overwhelmed by those whom they regarded as their inferiors." Once the the rage and failure of the Islamic world slipped out of their natural confines, as they did on Sept. 11, 2001, neoconservatives were able to argue that something dramatic was needed to ameliorate the threat to the West. Only transformation of the politics of the Islamic nations would suffice. Lewis — who is close to Ahmad Chalabi, the neocons' favorite Iraqi politician — became an advocate of intervention in Iraq in the hope of establishing a modern democracy there.

So the struggle in Iraq is as much a test of a theory as it is a war. For Lewis and the neoconservatives, the failure of Islam to reconcile itself to modernity is now too dangerous to leave alone. Moreover, they believe, the application of external force can be a catalyst for reform and peace. No scholar has had more influence than Lewis on the decision to wage war in Iraq. To what end, we don't yet know."

9. Well, they are two different men - Here is a photo of the combustion scientist
Bernard Lews - it is from a Popular Science magazaine of 1931. I don't think they could be the same person. The scientist, Lewis, would have been born before the political scientist, Lewis.

If you click to look at Lewis, the scientest, scroll down to see a hand made Bible that weights. The entire section is about inventors - with photos - (one showing how a design for a golf tee that wouldn't fly away was made using dice.
