3. That's Cavuto, isn't it?
It has been years since I have watched Faux News, but I remember not liking that guy even then.

4. He's truly awful.
With a froggy voice like that, those beady eyes, and those flabby jowls, I am baffled as to how he got his job. He is physically unattractive through and through. Let's not even get started on his personality!

7. He'd be the guy who's mouth fell on the floor
when Ben Stein early in 2009 said the Stimulus wasn't big enough. Clearly Ben was right, Obama just didn't have the votes for it and we are paying for that. But yes Neil as classy as ever pisses on 9/11 victims. Just classy.

5. Wow
here I am, starting to tear up at Michelle Obama's words - and then BOOM interputed for some stupid bit of political posturing. Why didn't they just cut to the toilet paper commercial with the animated bears? That wouldn't have been any less appropriate.

6. Y'see... if you were "nobody" then...
.... then you obviously are irrelevant to anything that happened then, even if you're "somebody" now. I mean, the Obamas might as well not have existed until 2009!

It's Quantum Politics!

11. p.s.
"Shit. Now Karl is screaming in my left ear.. What, Karl? Go find Scooter Libby? We're cutting to the Skokie Teabag rally in 5 minutes. What, they're not ready? We'll get them ready. And fire anybody who comes up with another idea to put Mrs. Obama on again. Jeez......we just lost Indiana? Oh, just Gary. Well, that's OK."

14. Fox does not want its listeners to here Michelle Obama's message
about how the Flight 93 passengers were heroes because they acted as one, because they united in action.

Fox seeks to divide Americans. It is the most subversive institution in our country without a doubt. The most subversive. It seeks to subvert our sense of community, our trust in each other, our confidence.

I do not understand how anyone can watch one second of Fox News. It is, as far as I am concerned, anti-American, anti everything that America stands for.

15. Are we getting as thin-skinned as the GOP?
While I despise FOX news and its misinfotainers as much as any DUer, I think there's some overreaction here.

In my interpretation of this segment, Cavuto was merely remarking on the contrast between then and now. Compared to where they are now, nine years ago our President and First Lady were "nobodies."

The Obamas were up-and-comers in their local spheres, but were not in the public eye and certainly did not have anything remotely like the public exposure and influence they have now.

This is a simple statement of fact, and should be a source of joy and wonder for us. I think the sense of insult and outrage is really badly misplaced, and it makes us look as absurdly hypersensitive as the reTHUGs are.

16. If they didn't think the speech was newsworthy, they didn't have to carry it.
They chose to broadcast Michelle's speech just to give Cavuto the opportunity to say "In 2001 Obama was a nobody," with the clear implication the he still is.

17. Well, there it is.
My impressions are obviously mistaken, since it's you who are privy to Fox's internal strategy memos on how to make simple statements of fact the vehicle for hidden attacks and insults.

Would that we could save our righteous outrage for the very real outrages in this world, not real or imagined innuendo.

are based upon their good intentions - in spite of mountains of evidence to the contrary?

19. Evidence, as you say.
Find the lie, and react to that. Find the evidence, and use it to dispute the lie.

There is no lie here, nor evidence of intent to lie.

What we have in this instance is airing of part of the First Lady's very good speech and Cavuto's comment that basically said, "How far the Obamas have come in 9 years, when hardly anyone even knew their names back then!"

Where is the insult? Where is the lie or intent to lie? You don't have to love Fox or Cavuto to see that this comment is not only objectively true but innocuous.

Are we going to be like the whining reTHUG babies, who have screaming tantrums every time their very sensitive feelings are hurt or they don't get 100% of what they want?

With most RW mud slinging (which I don't even see as the case here), I'm inclined to follow the good advice and example of my President, so appropriately demonstrated for us.

Instead of wasting energy on reacting to trivia and political nonsense, let's focus on working to get more good Democrats elected.

our viewers what a nobody her husband was. They are down right rude.

22. They are routinely rude.
It's what they do. So what?

Why do you give them the satisfaction of getting upset?

Why do you waste your time watching their idiotic antics in the first place, let alone giving them the emotional reactions they want?

Why waste your outrage on such vermin?

What Cavuto said was in and of itself innocuous. The insult was inferred by you, and your rephrasing of what he said proves that. What a waste of emotional energy!

Instead, we should be proclaiming, "Yes, isn't it wonderful that Barack Obama, a most unlikely candidate (as he called himself many times), has risen from virtual obscurity just a few years ago to be our President, a historic leader, admired and respected around the world."

If there's any taint of implied insult, just brush it off as he has done. Let's direct our energy back to getting more progressive Democrats elected, so Obama has the backup to accomplish the goals he's set with minimal opposition.

23. It wasn't what Cavuto SAID...
It was WHEN he said it. His comments could and should have been made AFTER the First Lady finished
speaking. After all, it was her speech that was the "News Item". I see no "over reaction" here...

24. Yes, Cavuto was rude in his timing.
And it was probably deliberate. It's what he and others at Fox do. It's their nature, just as it's the nature of a viper to bite and a scorpion to sting.

Why anyone who wanted to see the First Lady's speech uninterrupted would even attempt to watch it on Fox is beyond me, anyway. This type of interruption is hardly unusual there. Meanwhile, her speech is available in full elsewhere.

Recognize Fox misinfotainers for the rude, prevaricating, obnoxious creatures they are. Otherwise, don't waste your time paying attention to them or your energy giving them the emotional reactions they want! They're a lot like some kind of sci-fi monster that feeds on fear and anger, so practice a little zen detachment and deny them their fuel.

People who are so thin-skinned, so easily insulted, so quick to have their feelings hurt, and in a constant state of petulant outrage over such things... well, I've always recognized that state of mind in the reTHUGs and would greatly prefer that it stay there. I like being with the adults.

You can bet your last dollar that Barack and Michelle aren't brooding about this latest slight at all.

Meanwhile, I've said everything I have to say on the subject (see previous posts) and have more important things to do. Have fun.

A rude interruption of an awesome speech with no excuse other than to belittle her and her husband. Simple as that.

21. Fox is always ruining speeches of the President, First Lady, any democrat...
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 12:02 AM by Tx4obama
the thing that FoxNews has a habit of doing is they seem to use a different but same feed of speeches.
The feed is usually the same angle but it is more zoomed out so that the affect/emotion is diminished also they DARKEN the screen - President Obama is ALWAYS darker on FoxNews then he is on CNN and MSNBC during his speeches.
Check it out next time Obama gives a speech - flip between FoxNews, CNN, and MSNBC and you will see that Obama is ALWAYS two shades darker on FoxNews. Shame on them!

p.s. There is nothing at all wrong with Obama being dark, the thing that is wrong is that FoxNews darkens him in order to turn their white viewers against our president and THAT is wrong!

25. So do I need to ask if they cut away from Laura Bush's speech?
Edited on Tue Sep-14-10 07:08 PM by WhoIsNumberNone
And I'm sure if they did, it wasn't to remind us of what a loser she's married to, and how after a lifetime of failing upward he proved he was the Worst President in American History with his limp response to the 9/11 attacks.
