Watching the GOP not only form a circular firing squad but then start to eat each other's fractured remains is going to be some good entertainment in the next few weeks. Rove was taken out to the woodshed by one Christine O Donnell in this ABC interview. ouch!

The telling part of the interview is when she is asked some pointed questions about her own background - watch her eyes... suddenly she is looking away - rolling her eyes and laughing nervously, as she waffles on her response. Obviously hiding something that she doesn't want to answer or talk about. She defers to 'her website'.

I still wonder what 'the homeland of our security' is...

1. her college bills?
that's all they've got on her?

She sounds like a twit and from her record she sounds like an extremist, but I really hope the GOP base gets pissed at Rove and takes it out on the whole GOP establishment.

10. I agree
Took too long to pay her college bills? That and some of the other arguments sounded extremely weak, and for a Republican canidate that is nothing. I am happy to see them fighting amongst themselves, though, and even if I don't understand why none of the Rethugs like her, at least this brings me some joy.

4. Wow George can really ask the hard questions when he wants to.
Way to attack the woman. You showed her. And Carl who let you out of the barnyard. I think that this woman handled their questions well considering the fact that if she were a preferred candidate she would have been asked giveaway questions. Don't know about the ins and outs of this candidate but this clip works in her favor.

7. Waffle?
I didn't interpret O"donnell's response as 'waffling.' She sounds as though she's had enough of people making her college loans payoff an issue.

For me, the most important aspect of your post is your observation that the GOP has formed a circular firing squad. On another DU thread, a video clip shows Hannity disagreeing with Rove. Even though Hannity is still smarmy and obsequious toward Rove, he clearly refutes Rove's rather petulant analysis of O'Donnell's 'victory.' OMG! Circular firing squad...

The author of the aforementioned thread included a reference to Malkin, who apparently took issue with Rove's analysis. I haven't looked for that one just yet, but I am intrigued that another prominent conservative pundit has disagreed with Teh Mighty Rove. OMG! Circular firing squad...

With regards to O'Donnell: might she represent contemporary America more than we know? Look at what's most popular on television now--reality shows. Perhaps the hoi polloi wants to elect their own rank and file members. It's certainly not a stretch to interpret the burgeoning 'teabagger' movement in this light.

Frankly, I'm not so sure O'Donnell and her ilk will be any worse than what the Republicans have given us over the past ten years. But, rather than try to vilify her and others like her, perhaps we progressives can look at the macro-level social forces that have resulted in her 'win' and do whatever is necessary to insure that we support candidates who will actually advocate for the hoi polloi (that would be US) and not bend over for the Corporate Megalomaniacs who are destroying our nation.

8. It's nice to see one interview with Ms O'Donnell that doesn't reference masturbation
Edited on Wed Sep-15-10 02:13 PM by Jack Rabbit
I say that because after everybody is through doing a double take, the novelty of that pseudo-issue will wear off. The more practical consequence of her overall stand on that issue is that she supports the proven failure of abstinence-only education.

Her "checkered past" concerning her personal finances is still a better point to hit.

Most importantly, she supports a return to voodoo economics. That really ought to be enough to keep her out of the Senate. Unfortunately, the Democrats have done a poor job of educating the voters on the fallacies of the economic policies of the recent (1980-2000) past, even after those policies brought us to the brink of catastrophe.

9. We're talking Deleware, right?
Isn't this a state where people have a tad of intelligence and reasoning skill? She won! Good for us.

Let her own party try to destroy her with this petty bull shit.

Let's go for the issues that matter. If we are going to attack her past ridiculous ideas...then be sure they are for real. There is plenty of proof. Just make it factual.

We should be able to hold this state now that the stronger establishment candidate got his ass handed to him by another palin-clone. Let's just do this right. The state is OURS TO LOSE!

Her entire website seems to consist of a Palin-Clone pic & "donate now!" button!
