1. If those musicians are union members, |
|
they may be paying ASCAP fees as a portion of their union dues. That gives them the rights to cover Springsteen's music.
However, seeing as how they are playing at a teabagger event, I doubt they belong to any union. I mean that would be pretty hypocritical, wouldn't it?

6. I'm confused -- Union dues give union members performance rights . . . |
|
to someone's song library? That's pretty weird.

Don't know about this local where these musicians live. And since they are teabaggers, I doubt they are union members anyway.

8. OK, I finally figured it out -- some musicians' unions pay ASCAP . . . |
|
So their members can legally cover songs without individual musicians having to negotiate rights, right?
But the heck with whether they're union members or not -- listening to the audio again, I'm not sure "musicians" is the right word to describe them.

2. Republicans have a long history of rebuffs from the music industry |
|
Reagan tried to use "Born in the USA" (obviously never listened to it) and Bruce made them stop Reagan tried to use "Little Pink Houses" (obviously....) John made them stop
Dole tried to use "I'm a Dole Man" the owners of the Sam and Dave song made him stop
Palin tried to use "Barracuda" Heart (the Wilson sisters-Cameron Crowe's wife) made her stop
Palin tried to use a Van Halen song - forgot the song- Van Halen (apolitical) made them stop
McCain tried to use (no kidding) "Running on Empty" (SERIOUSLY?!?!??!) Jackson Browne was aggressive in stopping them. Counter suing as I recall.

the song in the video is also one they didn't listen too. It's about a few guys who have done nothing since high school who still brag about their high school exploits because that was the high point of their lives.
