6. He got the important message out to the people, though -- again: |
|
That the Wall Street guys are still raking in obscene $$$ while so many of the American people are hurting, and he just wants to make it more equitable.
Doesn't matter if he slapped this guy, what really matters is he gets that message to the voters. No matter what he said, that guy wouldn't change his mind.

12. Oh yeah -- I would have loved it! Which is why it's a good thing |
|
that he's the Prez and I'm not. I would have just seen that jerk in front of me and responded snarkily, whereas Obama gets the whole picture and remembers it's more than just making himself and gateley and meegbear feel good. :7 Maybe someday he'll do a Grayson, but it seems that's not his personality. :hi:

And by the end of the answer the guy was nodding his head in agreement with the President. Also noticed when the President was shaking hands after it was over the guy had his hand out and the other hand on the Presidents shoulder....oh yeah President Obama made an impression on the guy.
K&R the President is in the house!

And the guy was trying to sound all chummy with the President because they went to Harvard together. That guy came off looking as though he was looking for sympathy. I loved the whole seventy minutes of it.

32. Yes, a lot of people want strong-arming along with their |
|
authority. Obama tries to use reason and common sense to get the message out. That doesn't work to well with a lot of dunderheads in this country who are so screwed up that they, like sheep, can only respond to proding with a big stick, like that Wallstreeter who had his pinata whacked. One can only wish that the bulk of Americans saw this town hall meeting.

They were both on 10 and went back to 9 at the same time. I'd be interested to hear the reasons why.
Anyway, I'm rec'ing this one back to 10.

I care because "I'd be interested to hear the reasons why" someone unrec'd them both.
Either they have a legit critique of what's in them or they are a lurking troll misusing the function.

13. the guy asking the question sounded like a typical screw-you, lookie-me Wall Street'r |
|
Making sure he dropped in the name of his company, interrupting the President's answer to his question, basketball fouling stories trying to place him on an even footing, etc. Listening to him made me immediately want to take a shower to get all the 'slick' off me. Probably the same spiel he uses trying to impress his dinner dates --
very much not impressed, nor feeling sorry for those of his pinata'd ilk

15. That greedy dipshit fund manager whining about how he has to spend |
|
so much money for FICA and FUTA and benefits for his $50,000 a year worker who will only take home $35,000 a year AS IF that is a big impediment to him hiring her. The President should have asked him "Why don't you just give her a raise instead of taking home the MILLIONS for yourself, Asshole?
Anyone care to guess how much that asshole was paying himself and his brokers for their dazzling productivity in the American workplace?
I thought the President's wrapup to his answer was excellent, but I'm disappointed that he didn't try to defend those payments the fund manager/business guy was paying his employee for things like Social Security, Medicare, health insurance, vacation, etc. etc. Those are normal business expenses that are part of having a well-paid, protected workforce.

instead of a truly classless idiot like Geo.W.Bush. We might have a chance in hell of turning this country around after the terrible beating we have taken under the inept and crooked Bush administration.

27. I don't know why these fools keep putting themselves through this. . . |
|
. . .but let's all hope they keep doing it anyway!!
This reminds me of that Republican summit that the neo-cons invited Obama to along with all the press and the cameras, thinking they'd catch the Prez flat-footed. Then he calmly and thoroughly spanked them all from one side of the room to the other. And when they were trying to wrap things up he said, "No, let's keep going. I'm having fun!"
These fools just keep underestimating the black man and he keeps handing them their asses.
I apologize if I'm offending any sensibilities but is anyone not seeing the underlying racism both here and at that famous Republican meeting? You could almost read the minds of all these smarmy, overfed, $3,000-suited neo-cons and CNBC-ers, thinking: "There's NO WAY this colored fella is more clever than I am, and I'll let him know where his place is!" And by the expressions on their horrified faces toward the end of the meeting you can tell they are finally discovering how very wrong they are.
It is an awe-inspiring thing to watch. Watching how Obama handles these idiots reminds me of Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch in "To Kill a Mockingbird" or Gary Cooper in "Mr. Deeds Goes to Town." Quiet, unassuming, yet towering intellect, not playing the aggressor yet not backing down either. Just a pleasure to watch!

Yes, I voted for him, but think he is 99.9% a disappointment. However, that was beautiful. I have to say I wouldn't have hit the guy in the head...maybe just shot out his kneecaps or took a lead pipe to his shins.

THAT is the man I voted for. I smack him on plenty of issues here (and I catch hell for it but it's my right since I supported and voted for him and his policies as laid out in his campaign), but on this, he was right on the money - literally. Kudos to The President on this. (and I mean his comment here, not necessarily his policies/actions in this matter - he's right, most of "us" feel he's been too soft on Wall St. I'm one of those "us" people.

34. Hear hear. Although the President would have better chances |
|
in getting this country back to rolling if the inmates of this vast country would wake up and start educating themselves on what is really going on. There is no doubt in my mind that Obama is trying his best to do what is right for this country inspite of the mess Bush perpetuated. We should be thankful that we have a President with intelligence and integrity instead of the dreck that the Republicans have to offer.
