2. When we were down in FL

We visited my MILs church. They were promoting a pirate event for kids.
All well and good, except they were doing it with Disney Pirates of the
Caribbean and Johnny Depp images/music. My first thought was they
probably didn't have permission for it.

No way in hell am I going to register, as that may not even provide a method for contacting someone about a copyright violation.

6. It isn't copyright infringment.

Youtube detected the song and attached advertisement to the video as the copyright holder for the music allows. Copyright holders can have Youtube perform different actions when their music is detected including muting a videos audio, leaving the video intact with advertising attached, no action at all, etc. The only thing accomplished by posting the video here was to make some people actually spend a moment of their time watching this boring schmooze fest over Sarah Palin.

A few weeks ago a nasty racist group in the UK posted a user created video extolling "English" values, using a copyrighted song. We notified the performer - two days later the video was pulled.

Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I suspect that YouTube is playing it fairly safe at the moment while they mount an appeal.
