1. PLEASE speak out about this!
For those of us with chemical sensitivities who live in the Gulf States Corexit has been a nightmare. Our lungs, nose, ears, eyes throat...they never stop burning. The headaches are constant, and the impact on our natural world CAN'T be mild!

The EPA told them to stop, so why haven't they? Demand answers!

2. Easy to hide the dead birds, explain away the fish kills
but not so easy to silence the people who are feeling the effects!!

Take care of yourself. This is so unacceptable!!

4. K&R..how many of our kids on the Gulf have to get cancers before the rest of this country
gets mad as hell? Do we all have to drop dead at the same time before enough people in this country will care?

Care enough to call your senator and congressman and hold them accountable as well..and get you mad enough to care about our kids and the citizens of the Gulf????????

Most on the Gulf can not even sell their property to escape this disaster and these crimes against our health!

6. we on the Gulf know exactly what we have to worry about..it is our government that is allowing it
and allowig the exposure to our children!

And it is our government that pushed the media away and were thrilled to get the media to ignore the stories and bogus reports saying this shit was over..and silencing the stories of burning throats and headaches and nose bleeds and corexit in our inland towns citizens swimming pools!

Our government is responsible for the cover up..we on the Gulf are very aware..it is those not on the Gulf they wanted lied to so you go out and vote for them again!

7. What is most upsetting is how people refuse to even acknowledge the problem

or try and dismiss your concerns. How many people have to say they are sick before people stop trying to cover it all up? I have been surprised at the level of hostility directed at me for refusing to shut up about this topic here at DU.

When I first started collecting the stories, others on DU were posting them. I had no idea that there would be people who didn't want the stories posted for fear of making the government or the oil companies look bad. I assumed people were concerned about the health problems, the environmental problems.

Now people are telling me that I don't know what I am talking about, that I am posting too many articles. I don't know what to make of that. Your situation sounds very real to me. How anyone can dismiss these stories is beyond me.

10. This is the biggest tragedy to happen to this country since 9/11...
And it's not going away anytime soon. The repercussions will be felt for decades, maybe forever. So please continue keeping us informed about this. For awhile, I rarely read about anything else, since anything else seemed irrelevant, and I'm in NY... ;(

National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling:

Transcript Excerpt

Having to sit in that meeting with those fishermen and explain why that trade off seemed to be the lesser of two very evil situations is not something I think anyone should take lightly.
