2. Imagine if Tillman had been a missionary spreading the gospel under a Democratic President... |
|
For the life of me, I can't understand why this deceased, heroic American does not make the blood of every American boil. I can't understand why the right is enraged hardly at all, either.
I guess the only way to see the lack of right wing rage is to suggest their reaction would have been entirely different if Tillman had been pushing religion and Clinton had been president (I'm not suggesting Tillman was spreading any view - I only use that as an illustration because about the only time the right seems to get upset about the death of Americans in foreign country's is when it is related to missionary work).
And as for the Democratic president part....recall what happened in Somalia during Clinton's first year (Black Hawk Down).

...doesn't fuck around.
Instantly likeable, no bullshit and refreshingly honest. The circumstances surrounding Pat's death are foggy to say the least. Based on what he described, someone should be prosecuted for, essentially, command malpractice.

|
huh. ...
LOVED TILLMAN"S response at the funeral and then on Mahr. More people need to speak up when religionists foist their beliefs onto our lives.

In fact the only part of the show I could watch. Why, oh why is Andrew Breitbart given any forum? The man should be shunned.

where Pat Tillman came from. He was too real for the military who live in a religious lala land. They shoot truth don't they? When it gets too close.

title for the documentary! I watched him on the show, but it was the only good part of his show that night. Because of his guests, he was "off" his game or something!
Was so sorry that everyone talked over everyone else, but Breitbart is such an ass, as was Holmes I think her name was. Sorry to see that Sagan's wife got so little time.

In addition to his HBO gig Bill Maher should have a M$M job, one where he is allowed to actually have a point of view contrary to the 'official' acceptable one. And bring back Phil Donahue!

.....I would say yes, you are the only one.
I, personally, try to keep the curse words to a minimum, but there are times when they are the very words that need to be used.........like when discussing the murder of your brother -- and the coverup of that murder -- by the United States government.

22. Oh I agree cussing *can* be appropriate. |
|
But too much of it dilutes the quality of what is being said.
Rightfully outraged individuals speak out all the time. But those who sprinkle their sentences with cuss words are the least effective communicators, in my opinion.

They're just words. I find it refreshing when adults feel free to use adult language.

enlightenment, perhaps you should not watch. Some folks have the right to flame in fiery neon cuss. What happened to pat Tillman was far more gross than this outspoken kid could even dream up and I say kudos. He walks the walk, just like his big brother, dammit to hell. Pat Tillman was murdered for this same outspoken honesty and down to earth adherence and insistence on truth. This heinous debacle is not about poetry and foul language is the only medium that describes its foulness completely. Even fouler language might have been; In cold blood.

the 52% of American deaths are by FRIENDLY FIRE?!?!?!?!!!!!
WTF! Who are we over there to fight; each other?!?!?!!!!
If that stat is anywhere near accurate our military needs some serious retraining and certainly new leadership. IMO

29. Scary statistic, isn't it .Pat Tillman was a scapegoat |
|
for an inept military and an unjust war.
Who the heck are we anyway. A country of warmongers.
Pat Tillman was sacrificed to make the military sound like the bees-knees. Baloney.
He was murdered. Whether by accident or on purpose, dead is dead and the army screwed up royally by trying to make the whole awful event into a good news story.
I feel so badly for this family and that of the other 52 percent killed by friendly fire. Let me clarify that, I feel deeply for all of our military personnel who have died and suffered in these illegal, useless wars. This statistic indicates that we kill more of our own than of the enemy. Wow, that is powerful. Right there, the figures show we need to come home. NOW, not next week, not 2011, NOW.
Maybe I'm too old to appreciate the necessity of all this. I don't think so.
Dead is dead. We are without legitimate excuse to be fighting in the middle east.
Well again, I guess there is always oil.

These are folks taught to kill. When the fog of war and misidentification are not involved; Old scores and elimination of those not in lockstep comes into play. Loose cannons, especially those with a platform play some part in these extraordinary and unheard of percentages as many of the best films on Viet Nam depict.

For a family to be able to stand up to the military the way the Tillman family has is inspiring.
They understood the risk of friendly fire, it was the lying they wouldn't accept.

32. Only partially on topic, but |
|
Richard Tillman does have guts aplenty, to say what he did at his brother's funeral is one of the most courageous things I've ever seen and I'm glad the video exists.
But there are people I would like to see on Bill Maher's show. I tried to email him but I don't have Facebook and you can't get at him through MySpace (I have one but rarely use it) unless he "Friends" you.
The people I would like to have him interview are Noam Chomsky, Michael Parenti, Jello Biafra, and Ted Rall. All are beyond liberals and are frozen out by the media, never sought out for sound bytes though any one of them could give good ones if asked.
Jello Biafra appeared once I think on Politically Incorrect and talked about "wealth addiction," and shocked everyone on the panel, including Maher, then he disappeared from the media ever since. Ted Rall just put out a book called "The Anti-American Manifesto" and, in his blog, expressed surprise that it had received as little attention as it has (Ted has a naive streak).
If you have access to his email, you might forward these suggestions to him, just for fun.
