In what is becoming a disturbing habit Rand Paul believes he should be Senator of Kentucky without having to meet and speak with any of those "unwashed masses" like working Kentucky miners. Today at a "meet and greet" in Pineville Paul evidently forgot the meeting and greeting part. He avoided questions and showed one Kentucky miner what he thinks of the commonwealth's working voters. From an AFL-CIO email:
At a public meet and greet in Pineville today, Rand Paul once again refused to discuss Social Security and Medicare with working Kentuckians. Right before closing his car door in our brother's face, Paul even said: "Hell No" he wasn't going to answer any questions. How's that for respect?
The event took place at a Dairy Queen in a region of Kentucky where, as you know, good jobs are scare, the economy is worse than the national average, and many residents depend upon social security as their sole source of survival. Prior to Rand's escape act, a group of working Kentuckians from the UMWA, USW, and IBEW were patiently waiting at tables inside the Dairy Queen, hoping to have the chance to talk with Paul. They never got the opportunity.
After circling through part of the restaurant, Paul avoided the union members and, in what has become a familiar tactic of his campaign, immediately headed for the door. In a futile attempt to ask their questions, several workers calmly followed him outside; instead of answering, Paul closed his car door in the face of Mason Caudel, a United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) member of 41 years...
