1. Watch out, Cenk. I was bloodied the other day when I posted a thread expressing
my sentiments regarding this that are pretty much identical to yours. I still think "we're" right on this.

2. I disagree
Grayson's point was that Webster's agenda boils down to he wants people to 'submit to him'.
Just like when people use that short clip of John Boehner saying "Hell no" - they've used that sound bite for other things other than what Boehner was 'originally' talking about.

3. I have to admit Grayson did over play it there, we can be factual and hit hard. Grayson is ..

definitely the man though. I don't think Grazyon even needs an ad he should just play his greatest moments.

4. "she can pray that" - VIDEO - longer clip
it is obvious that he believes that is what women are supposed to do, since 'it is in the bible... and she can do that', so my take is that this ad is not only fair but accurate.

hopefully it will wake some folks up, and give him lot's of opportunity to discuss his opponents views of women and their rights, to make a strong contrast between his own positions.

5. No you can't take people out of context,. period.
Sure the guy may hold the views, but to take him COMPLETELY out of context in a TV ad is despicable, no mater who does it! I like Grayson, and Taliban Dan sounds like a stupid fundy,. but get a clip that you can use in the correct context of what is meant and said,. not manipulation by video edit. this will loose you support,. end of line.

6. I agree with Cenk here.
I have to wonder if Grayson really signed off on this ad. He's so much smarter than that. I'm betting whoever put this together for him is in hot water.

7. I agree with Cenk....
...and Grayson should admit that this part of the ad should not have been used.

In the larger context however, I'm really fed-up and sick and tired of politicians using religion as a qualifier for office. The Constitution specifically prohibits using any kind of religious tests or qualifiers and they should never be used whether it's mandatory or voluntary. Because all that any kind of religious qualifications can do is divide, divide, divide. Just as religions do in the world now.

And even in the so-called "corrected context" of this ad, Dan Webster is in effect saying that he supports one interpreting the bible in a way that is comfortable for them, not to interpret it based upon what it actually says. And this is the very reason we have so much conflict in the world today between the literalistic fundamentalist who prefer to kill and/or blow things up when people don't agree with their "as written" beliefs -- and the relativist religionists who want to display themselves as religious, but in a politically-correct or appealing way.

- Like so much ketchup advertising:

NEW AND IMPROVED, NOW WITH FRESH, BORN-AGAIN CHRISTIANITY!
