Conservatives seem to be obsessed with Sex. You hear them crying the loudest about freedom and civil liberties and the government not telling you what to do but when the topic turns to sex it looks like some turn into a Christian crusader advocating for the government to regulate your bedroom activities. Salon's Tracy Clark-Flory explains they're afraid of the power of sex and if they aren't having any sex, they don't want anyone to have it either.

1. I disagree...

Republicans are having lots of sex. With their mistresses while their wives are in the hospital. With their mistresses while 'hiking'. In the back rooms of porn theaters. While getting their luggage carried.

They don't have a problem with sex per se.

Just YOUR sex.

2. True-- those that protest the loudest are always the worst

offenders. And the republicans are the ones always caught in the metaphor "motel room". They ARE obsessed with sex...that's their main drive.

3. So stupid . . .

First of all, what's up with the hookup footage they used? Looks like a cross between porn and a PSA -- I'm guessing RT produced it themselves just for this piece. Second, most people are 'obsessed with sex' to some degree or another -- not always in the same ways, but it's something many people think about quite often. Third, I've always doubted that conservatives are more prone to sexual misbehavior than anyone else -- we hear more about it, IMO, because such charges carry more weight because conservatism is often associated with a certain conception of morality (whatever the hell that means) and everybody likes a story about hypocrisy in public officials (or religious figures). These types of stories grab more eyeballs. Same thing with Spitzer -- though he's not a conservative, he was associated with 'moral crusading' (not on social issues, to be fair) and thus his penchant for prostitutes raised eyebrows. I would bet the farm that conservatives have affairs, closeted gay lives, and whatever else no more or less than other groups of people do -- it's just that much more fun to hear about them doing it. Lastly, RT is Kremlin-funded and should be taken with a grain of salt to say the very least.
