3. He's an idiot...
A quote:
"I've done a study. I've done a study of every corporation in the world and I've looked at how hated various companies are..."

No you didn't do a study of every corporation in the world. There are tens of thousands here in the U.S. alone, and you did not study even those to see how they are hated. It doesn't do much for your case when you come out and make a bogus statement.

And as far as your exercise on not drinking coke, Mr. Keiser. How do you convince everyone in the world to not drink coke for six months. Most of those people don't speak English, many of them don't have cable TV. How do you diseminate your call for an economic boycot of Coca Cola?

What your are doing is saying something that sort of sounds good without having any abilty whatsoever to fulfill this. Republicans do this all the time. "If we lower taxes paid we will somehow increase tax revenues. That statement is proven wrong by eight years of Bushanomics, but they still say it.

If you are going to make a suggestion, spend two minutes thinking it through.

6. Give me a link to a real study listing every corporation in the world.
Edited on Wed Oct-06-10 11:06 AM by Ozymanithrax
He is an idiot, and a liar on top of that.

He calls for something which there is no way to initiate or lead. He did not think it through.

Show me a way to communicate with every drinker of Coke int he world.

I repeat, he is an idiot. Just because something sounds good doesn't mean it is realistic.

7. lighten up with the calling of names,.
I think it is meant as an example of the fact that corporations get their power from all the people that buy from them,. not everything people say is meant to be taken literally. It is called "poetic licence" when one deviates from conventional form or fact to achieve a desired effect,. calling people idiots because you do not understand simple rhetoric does not make you look very smart.

8. I expect overblown statements from the right. that is what they do.
Edited on Wed Oct-06-10 01:30 PM by Ozymanithrax
People who want to be taken seriously on the left should try to be real with their statements and honest.

He could have said, "I performed a study of why people hate corporations." As long as he looked at a number of corporations, that would be an honest statement. "All corporations" is not an honest statement.

Then, he calls for everyone on earth to quit drinking coke for six months. He picked coke as a symbol and then called for something that can never happen. He is not being honest there.

Pick a small target in a limited area and perform your experiment. This was tried with BP, and quite frankly failed. The gnat sting delivered by a boycott had not affect.

Real civil action requires realistic targets and leadership. Gandhi showed that it could be done that way. Chavez tried something similar with the grape boycott with some limited success. MLK also worked this way, with real success. The difference is leadership and narrow focus.

10.  He is an idiot, and a liar on top of that.
I agree. This "every corporation in the world" makes the rest of his statement not worth listening to.

Besides, how do we know he doesn't work for Pepsi????

Yes, I can be flippant about this because it's so silly.

I wonder what impact pulling your money out of a bank and putting in a credit union would have? Or if everyone took public transpo for a month. Oh that's right.... there is NO public transpo in most of America.....

9. Thank you for calling out this nonsense
This is pretty dumb, even for RT. Many people hate the idea of large multinationals, but often don't connect that to the actual products they are selling and even more often don't actually resist buying what they like for any significant length of time. Maybe Keiser should do his next piece on the evils of Gazprom and see what his RT editors think of that . . .

14. Actually, for reasons completely unrelated to this video, I stopped
drinking soft drinks several years ago. Don't miss them at all. They are a waste of money.

11. It's a tiny more difficult than just singling out Coca Cola - The Coke people
Own a lot of other foods and drinks in their corporation, so research is required.

For instance, I think they also own "Vitamin Water."

But once you figured out all the products to avoid, you could hurt Coke.

13. Yay Max! You're ability to condense information is brilliant.
And I absolutely love your presentation "format". I mean, you are young. You are my kid neighbor when I grew up. Fresh is probably a better term. But that's just the surface. Other than just a couple of things (which I admittedly am probably wrong about), you have been hitting home runs on every piece that you do. You've helped me understand economics, and that's saying something.

I wouldn't miss Truth About Markets on Sunday morning here in Mendocino California for anything.

Don't stop what you're doing.
